A million little suns to brighten up anyone's day! A spectacular view at Walker's Canyon by Lake Elsinore in Southern California. Following abundant rains the poppies bloomed for about a month and attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors. Beautiful memories!

This was taken this Spring during the "Superbloom". It may not have been as spectacular as the one in 2017 but it was pretty super.

"A familiar backyard bird, the House Wren was named long ago for its tendency to nest around human homes or in birdhouses. Very active and inquisitive, bouncing about with its short tail held up in the air, pausing to sing a rich bubbling song, it adds a lively spark to gardens and city parks despite its lack of bright colors. Various forms of this wren are found from central Canada to southern South America." allaboutboids.com

This image is from last year's Superbloom. We went out there this week, though beautiful there's not a hint of a Spring bloom to come.

This image is from last year's Superbloom in the Carrizo. Tourists trespassed through the fence to get up close, I did not and photographed them from afar.

I have a strange liking for lupine fields. They are by far some of the most photogenic flowers for landscape photography in my opinion. Conditions this year have been so good that the lupines have taken over the entire coastal rolling hills in Socal.

What you don't see here is the mosquitoes and countless hungry 🐛 🐛 I was surrounded by 😂😂😅😅

This was taken a few miles into the park at the south entrance. In that area flowers literally blanket the landscape. There are no barren spots. I was in this particular field for over 5 hours during the course of 2 days. . Snakes. Never saw, nor heard one and I looked for them with each careful step. I think it was just too early. I did see a kit fox though and 17 billion jack rabbits... even babies... awwww.

There was quite a superbloom around the town of Borrego Springs, but it was really surprising to find wildflowers among the canyons of the badlands, in the high desert northeast of town.

Choosing between the amazing scenes from today's visit to the Carrizo Plains was tough. It was busy, even for a Tuesday, and happy I made it a morning trip. The clouds rolling in for the upcoming showers were an added bonus.

I went from the white scape of the Arctic Alaska to the colors of Southern California Desert in just one week. This year the desert is full of flowers. This so-called "superbloom" happens periodically every so many years depending on the rains in the autumn and germination of the seeds. If all the necessary conditions are right, the display of wildflowers is simply fantastic. This year the desert flowers look really good!

Go ahead, give it a try - research and name all the flowers species in this photo.

The Antelope Valley is known for its wildflowers and Joshua Trees. Unfortunately, the two rarely grow in the same place. The Poppies tend to be on the west side of the region and the Joshua Trees in the east and center. However, that they do flourish together in a few places is documented in this image.
