Sunset captured along Dingli Cliffs - Malta. Thank you for your time to view - Wishing you a splendid day !
"When we don’t have information, we go to the simplest outlook, to black and white. But then we have to lie to ourselves. Black is never as black as you’re painting it and white is never as white". – Patricia Sun
I have been going to the North Pine Dam for a sunset capture since April 2020 and have come home with nothing. Simply the sky was just not there for a sunset photo.
Sometimes I was on my own and sometimes I had company. On this given evening I had good company. I knew that I would take a good capture because the composition of the sky was saying so.
We watched the sun set ever so slowly with the dead tree that has been standing in this dam for as long as I have been photographing sunsets there.
I love sunsets, the way the warm sunset light transforms and disperses through the clouds as each minute goes by is mesmerising, and it makes it all the more special when you have great company with you like I did on this evening!
This sunset capture is best in black and white due to the way the sunset light was being dispersed through the clouds!
"The sunset faded and blended from pink to peach to mango in a smoothie in the sky." Jarod Kintz
Pulled over for last night's sunset captured with iPhone 6+ and edited with Repix and DistressedFX for Slider's Sunday. HSS!

Photography to me is an art. It brings out the artist in me. I title some of my photos with thoughts I may have at the time of taking the shot relevant to the photo. Some of my titles are relevant to what is happening around me and to me.
Recently, I discovered some disturbing truths that have life long ramifications for all concerned and involved. The title of this photo is testament as to how I handled these disturbing truths. The relief could not be more relieving and my conscious could not be more clearer!!
A little about the photo and that evening. A cold and windy night at the North Pine Dam. This is evident from the sunlight reflections in the water where the strong wind turned the Dam into a raging sea. Unfortunately, no cloud reflections in the usually still water. The composition of the sky was awesome, a photographers dream.
Whilst my company that evening was keeping warm, I had no such time to keep warm. I was concentrating on composition and framing the photo with the hideous weather.
My followers and alike, thank you for listening. I had begun moving forward almost instantaneously when the disturbing truths were made known to me and what a relief this is. Not my best sunset capture, but considering the strong cold wind that evening, the photo is ok I think!
Can't really see the snow and ice in this silhouetted sunset capture but it was really wonderful to see at the South Haven lighthouse...:))
Early evening sunset capture waiting for the tide to return. The sun is setting in the distance and magically lighting up the sky and clouds.
This was captured as a long exposure trying to capture the surreal lighting that can be had with long exposures and capturing excellent reflections in the remaining puddles.
Vermillion Lake is the place, which always attracts me come back again and again… An incredible view right outside the town of Banff. Walking around the lakes, there is always something to see. Except the Mount Rundle and Mount Sulphur, you can see the Rocky Mountains as backdrop of the lake in different directions. To capture its beauty, I put tripod on the wetland close to the lake, came here couple of times during sunset, captured rainbow this time, the rainbow just lasted only a few minutes…
Sunset captured at Boscombe pier managing to capture a nicely lit sky as the sun went down under the pier.
An armature hand- held sunset capture. :-)
Mount Hehuan, also called Joy Mountain, is a 3,416-metre-high (11,207 ft) mountain in Central Taiwan. The peak lies on the borders of Nantou and Hualien counties and is located within Taroko National Park. Hehuanshan is a popular destination in central Taiwan. The 3,421-metre east peak and 3,422-metre north peak of Hehuanshan are both higher than the main peak.
Mount Hehuan is part of the Central Mountain Range.
There was a chance of some nice light and clouds in the sky so I headed down to my Dad's to give him a quick visit and catch the sunset.
Alas the cloud deck overhead cleared too much as the sun was going down, so I used the 100mm lens versus the 14mm and went on a chase for some 100mm landscape sunset captures along Middle River.
Capture made with the 10 stop ND filter for this long exposure for tonight's sunset captured while down in Middle River ... out for evening walk with the camera and tripod. Felt good to get out and snap some with the camera.
Hoping all staying safe.
Happy Bench Monday

An absolutely stunning sunset captured yesterday evening in the Lake District. This was the first time I'd been out with my camera for sunset in the mountains since before the Coronavirus Lockdown began in March, and it certainly felt great to be back out again.
The evening started out promising as I ascended Mellbreak, but as I gained height the clouds rolled in thick and fast, and by the time I reached the summit a blanket of fog had shrouded the hill. I descended back the same route via Dropping Crag, and decided to wait it out anyway on a ledge lower down.
I'm so pleased that I did as the sun made a dramatic appearance right at the end of the day, setting into a tiny gap on the horizon. The light only lasted a couple of minutes, but it was definitely worth it. This is the view from above Dropping Crag looking towards the distant lake of Loweswater. The track that I ascended can be seen meandering through the fields below. I also managed to capture a tiny sprig of flowering heather to the bottom right of the image.
Sunset captured back in September with Snowdonia in the distance and a still lake.
Firecrest polariser and capturing the moment the tops of the mountains with the setting sun which at this time was directly behind me...
A sunset captured at the Blow Fly Inn in Gulfport on the Gulf Coast and processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Happy Slider Sunday
Sunset captured at Hatchet Pond in Hampshire during the Blue hour back in September with the lake at this time once the sun had set did settle down to be almost ripple free...
Apart from a firecrest nd filter .09 for the sky and lower reduction of the polariser...
Thermals nearing sunset captured with the CPL filter. You can see the bison footsteps there in the thermal pool.
Late day sunlight sneaks into the scene just before sunset captured there from Cadillac Mountain in Maine. Liked the exposed water on the rocks that was reflecting that sunlight. The mix of that light on the rocks, textures, and lichen was pretty amazing to take all in.
The Simone de Beauvoir pedestrian bridge, one of the access to the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, or Bibliothèque François Mitterand. A nice sunset captured with the ultra wide angle lens.

Taken at Rhossili Beach last weekend. After carting all my stuff to the beach the sunset decided not to play nicely but still had a go at capturing it though the lens ball!

A late sunset capture at Port Elliot South Australia.
Sunset captured along Anchor Bay, limits of Mellieha. ND grad & SS filter (middle grad) were utilised to tame the sun.
Thank you for your time to view - wishing you all a splendid week-end.
Near sunset capture along the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Was still using the CPL filter here at this time, and the effect on the clear sky with some haze turned out kind of neat I think.
Tonight's moon early in the evening just after sunset. Captured this while taking extra long exposures of the passing clouds at sunset along Middle River. Gave me something fun to do while the other camera was sitting with its shutter open. The sunset colors there in the upper clouds were pretty against the moon as the lower clouds parted to reveal the moon.
