Olympus digital camera..livecomp mode takes a series of images at a given exposure but only records new or moving light onto the base image....this method used to streak the sky but a side effect is the swans moved considerably and their bodies were recorded on multiple frames.... image uploded to show the effect of livecomp on moving items

Taken following an icy ascent of Coniston Old Man, as the late afternoon sun broke through the clouds. I was stood on Miner's Bridge below Coppermines Youth Hostel, by the cart track leading down to Coniston village. Church Beck is flowing below. The mines in the area around Coniston have been mined for over 400 years, though copper has been extracted in this area long before that, going back to Roman times, possibly earlier. However, it finally became uneconomic and following a decline from the 1870s the local mining industry came to an end around 100 years ago. Parts of the mines, which went as deep as 1100ft, can still be explored by those with the caving skills and equipment, and feature some vivd blue supergene deposits of copper sulphates.
