My whole purpose on this trip was to get a great sunset from the Merced NWR. Well, it didn't go exactly as planned. Mother Nature had other ideas with this night and she brought in a storm. It sprinkled on me while I was taking this picture, but later the rain really came down. Instead of amazing colors at sunset, I got an amazing sky to work with.
You can stay here until 30 minutes after sunset and then they close the gate that allows access to the area. I stayed until a few minutes after the sun set hoping for more color in the sky, but I never got it. I quickly packed up everything and made it out of the gate before they shut it. This was the best effort of the night facing the West. I posted another sunset pic from this day facing East that has better color.
Technically, this shot should stand last in this series of sunset pics, but my phone didn't load the next two postings, so I had to go back to reload them. Regardless, I just love how the trees were just standing silhouette against the evening's sunset! So pretty!
This was taken a little further north along "The Great River Road." As sunsets tend to do, this one just kept getting better and better! I should have probably stayed at the first location, but then, I wouldn't have captured these beautiful trees! Hope you enjoy!

Another one of the "Cinestill on mushrooms" sunset pics. I still think it's not a good filmstock for these kind of shots (or maybe i'm doing something completely wrong) but it was the one sitting in my cam so i had to deal with it. :)

This was taken in Cascade, CO in the San Isabel National Forest during my most recent camping trip. The weather was sunny and dry during the day, but thunderstorms rolled in every day around 3:00 pm. Ruined the sunset pics, so turned to black and white instead.
This is a long exposure using a 10-Stop filter then converted to black and white from RAW.
My first ever lightning photos.
I went down to the beach to have a quite dinner and shoot a few sunset pics. A typical summer storm rolled in from the south, moving off shore. I must have shot 40-50 pictures until I got two strikes. They are not the best, but I am really happy to have finally taken a lightning picture. I will have to read up on suggested settings...
Next time I will bring a tripod.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my photo..... Mike
Sunsets are so different every day, there are those that are just so epic and vibrant that make them unforgettable and then there are others that are just so much more soft and reflective. This is one of those others that I was lucky enough to witness and enjoy.

try to combine rusty metal in a sunset pic.
i really love sunset pic. but it ain't about the sunset. it about lighting by sunset.
actually, i hadn't found the right title for this pic.
Tanah Lot means Land in The Sea, a perfectly fit name for its unique offshore settings. The silhouette of Pura Tanah Lot is one of the most popular iconic features of Bali. Imagine the image of a Balinese temple (pura) perched high on the rock, facing the wide open ocean.
Well, I got two of the three arch rocks! ha! I was focusing more on the sunset at this point. This was my husband's and mine 35th anniversary, and we decided to stay at the beach, taking sunset pics until sundown! I always like a few clouds in my sunset pics, but unfortunately, by sundown, it was a little too cloudy! You'll see what I mean in the next post. Hope you enjoy.

A small and picturesque hamlet, surrounded by lush green hills, with the Teesta River flowing below it, Singhik is a great place that offers the most magnificent view of Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu.

Mersea Island in Essex never fails to give you glorious sunsets.
Well. Sometimes I feel blessed to see what I see. This pic was taken on Friday. In the morning the same day I planned to do some sunset-pics in a delta area of the river Peene, but when It became evening the sky darkened and it started to rain cats and dogs. As you might have guessed correctly – I was really unhappy, but something said, nevertheless take the car and drive around, and so I got the chance to see my first whole double rainbow, which I have never seen before, rising above a field of wheat enlighted by the evening sun.
What do you see when you look at the water? The colors and the waves and the sunset?
Sunset over the Everglades. Not one of my best sunset pics-- but since it went with my series, thought I'd post it anyway. I loved the colors reflected on the water in the sun's path, but this picture does not really capture that very well. I have much to learn about taking sunset pictures. Taken from our boat while I was working on getting action shots of Jake for 52 weeks for dogs project.

Sunset at Thanga campsite was simply magical. As soon as sun started going down, entire surrounding was engulfed in orange glow. Truly magical and a sight to behold.
an almost normal weekend, as Jim's been home from hospital since Friday...but he has an appointment in the Owen Sound hospital on Tuesday... we'll soon see what that means.

Rururu has been spending a lot of time in the trees lately. He's been insisting that his latest 365 shots be of him climbing a tree. He's going through a phase where he wants to be "just like everyone else"... in this case, meaning "just like all other monkeys" and according to him, all monkeys should enjoy being in a tree. He looks quite at home here and in yesterday's sunset pic but in reality, I know he much more prefers sitting on the couch at home with the remote in one hand and a piece of sushi in the other...
