This African elephant is dusting itself with dirt that is used as sunscreen and insect repellent. According to the Smithsonian Channel, an elephant has 40,000 muscles in its trunk.
In Edinburgh? Give it 10 minutes and the rain will wash it off.

I didn't go to see this despite the obvious attractions. The word "improvise" is one that rules out a show instantly for me - along with "mime" and "puppet"
This picture might need some explanation ;-)
Even though I have great blinds in my little office, its windows directed south mean temperature can rise sky high sometimes. The blinds aren't able to stop the heat that radiates trough the windows. I have wondered all summer long how I could construct something to survive better, but this idea came up in my head the very last day of August.
A sheet hangs down from a plank to completely cover the main window. I know this solution is really, really improvisation (it looks very primitive, I know), but it should work just well on days like today when the temperature outside rises to over 25 degrees Celsius, and inside it normally would get even warmer.

I still get a glove pattern on my hands in spite of this. On the first day of Summer I have 2480 miles ridden for the year, a good 400 miles or so behind last year’s pace. I had my first missed day on the bike since March on June 20 due to cataract surgery. It’s fascinating to see the road in the distance with a naked eye!

Shiseido made the news last year when they started using Japanese models for their beauty products marketing.
Don't forget the Monkey Electric Alleycat entry expires Saturday night!
Yesterday afternoon, after the ultrasound scan, we went to Lyngby to get the cars brakes fixed. One of the wheels sang a tune close enough to the high C, that we decided to get it fixed. While waiting for the car, we went shopping for some babyboy clothes ;-) and celebrated the good news at the cafe.
Here is the view.
Its actually so good that you oughta treat yourself to the ;-) large view ´on black´

This made me think of Baz Luhrmann's inpirational song, Wear sunscreen. Some great proverbs in the vocals.
Scanned from a shot taken in 1997.
The fifth pack I shot with my Polaroid SLR 680 was a Black & Pink Duochrome pack from Polaroid Originals. Was slightly disappointed that the contrast wasn't stronger in the results, but I guess I'm also still learning the settings for those perfect results.
These six portraits were taken at my girlfriend's childhood home during easter, earlier this year.
Taken with Polaroid SLR 680 analog camera. Polaroid Originals 600 instant film, Black & Pink Duochrome edition, fresh from the store.
los momentos de mi vida que más frágil me he sentido han sido cuando me he sentado en la cocina de mi casa horas y horas esperando que los demás empujaran mi vida;
los momentos más felices de mi vida han sido cuando he cerrado esa puerta y me he largado me he cortado el pelo y he dejado de ser transcendental para con los demás

This is Scooby39's and my go at the collaboration challenge.
Obviously as Scooby is in Australia and I'm here in blighty we thought we'd play with the geography aspect of the song
I hope you like our little story of me shivering in blighty, looking at the weather where scooby lives and writing her a note to remind her to wear sunscreen. I think she did an absolutely terrific job and I love the final shot of hers.
It was an absolute pleasure to partner with Scooby, I had such good fun with such a lovely partner.
Thanks CY for the challenge, but most of all thanks to Scooby, my wonderful partner in crime!
