In January 2022, I asked for help, and a Flickr support hero removed both of my accounts from the Explore algorithm. I feel more relaxed and my jaw no longer hurts ;-)
In Santorini, take lots of pics (both with DSLR and also mobile phone of course), enjoy delicious Greek food, look out for the donkeys, go up and down the stairs, explore the laneways, go to the beach, try ouzo (but do not get drunk as there is so much to see and do), embrace Greek hospitality, visit the villages and also the archaeological sites.. and if time permits why not shop for some souvenirs and that dress.... Oh how I wish I could be back there and do this all over again. Love Santorini and do not forget that SPF 50+ sunscreen...

I remember taking a bunch of cool cloud photos a few years ago along I-10 in Louisiana. This is one of those.

HMM- the #macromondays theme for 7/19 is #sunsafety and this one fits the bill. Had one other that I’ll post next in the photostream.
Bella liked playing with this but luckily I don’t have to put it on her! Years ago my white cat Charlie had to have sunscreen put on his ears during sunny weather - he always allowed me to do it but washed it off as soon as he could.

Though their hide looks tough, elephants have sensitive skin that can get sunburned.
To counteract the damaging rays of the sun, elephants throw sand on themselves. Adult elephants will also douse youngsters with dust. When coming out of a bath in a river, elephants will often throw mud on themselves as a layer of protection. And when calves are sleeping, adults will often stand over them to cast shade and protect them from the sun.
In this image, the male quetzal seems to have a treat that he brought for the female. He was showing off his backside and displaying the treat unless that's his tongue. Either way, I hope he managed to impress the female. He sure was putting on a show. I was so impressed with this beauty that I put up three images of him in a row.
Costa Rica has many splendid looking birds and butterflies and so much more. If you are thinking of going, do your research on the type of wildlife and scenery you wish to see and when the best time to see those things are. It's definitely worth a trip if nature is your thing.
Then again, the city was pretty awesome too. Although, rush hour is a bit crazy. Traffic on the interstate near the airport gets so backed up that people go to the middle where the guardrails are and sell snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen and water as traffic is moving along. I have never seen anything like that before.

A low cloud bank partially obscures the rising sun as a Forster's Tern prepares to dive for menhaden on Armand Bayou.
I inadvertently had sunscreen on the lens here. So I cleaned it off and retook the photo. When I looked at the two shots I found this soft image more intriguing than the totally focused one.

Elephant trunks are extremely multifunctional and can be used for a huge variety of different activities, including eating and drinking, grabbing, holding and pushing, etc. An elephant on the sandy river edge of the Tarangire River sprays sand onto its back with its trunk. The sand functions as a sunscreen against the hot African sun and also as an insect repellant. Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. (converted to black and white)

Sun cream isn't the only way of protecting yourself from the sun. It's quite common to see this method in Thailand
