Sunset 15/8/2021 - from our front door in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
(shown on the weather section of BBC 'Look North' yesterday)
This is, without doubt, one of my favorite photos from trips to several U.S. National Parks in 2016. We are blessed to enjoy beautiful sunsets routinely at home. However, this spot was magnificent. This is Schwabacher’s Landing, possibly the prime photo opt spot in Grand Teton National Park. The reflection of the Teton Mountains in the still, flat water of the Snake River is majestic. If you want more, entertainment is provided free of charge by the local wildlife. A family of resident beavers entertains several times a day! What more can anyone ask?
I captured this sunset several years ago while visiting Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. The building captured on the photo is the historic lighthouse in Annapolis Royal. It was built in 1889 on the site of the old Government House (the residence of the garrison engineer) which burned in 1833. It remains a functioning lighthouse, with a heat-sensor light that comes on at night and goes off during the day. It shines brightly only about 90 miles away from the half-way mark between the equator and the North Pole.
Nothing much to say here. Just seat back and enjoy the daily magnificent sunsets in the legendary Aegean Greek Island of Mykonos.
I love sunsets and sunrises. The weather on Xmas day was exceptional in South Florida. This particular shot is a HDR composite taken approximately 20-25 minutes after the sun set below the horizon. The colors just kept getting brighter with every minute. Some of you may recognize the location. It is Everglades Holiday Park, home of the TV reality series on Animal Planet appropriately named "Gator Boys." For those wondering, the answer is "YES," a few of the critters were lurking close by, unnerving avid photographers. In reality, the mosquitoes were more pesky than the gators.
