Sun rays shining down on Loch Leven, The Scottish Highlands, Scotland. The Scottish Highlands, known locally simply as the Highlands (Scottish Gaelic: A' Ghà idhealtachd, "the place of the Gaels"; Scots: the Hielands) are a historic region of Scotland. The region became culturally distinguishable from the Lowlands from the later Middle Ages into the modern period, when Lowland Scots replaced Scottish Gaelic throughout most of the Lowlands. The term is also used for the area north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault, although the exact boundaries are not clearly defined, particularly to the east. The Great Glen divides the Grampian Mountains to the southeast from the Northwest Highlands. The Scottish Gaelic name of A' Ghà idhealtachd literally means "the place of the Gaels" and traditionally, from a Gaelic-speaking point of view, includes both the Western Isles and the Highlands
out one window and into another-they recently renovated this library-there are lots and lots of computers now and not nearly as many books-maybe that's better for the community but not for me

This horse was catching the last sunrays of the the sunset. It waited patiently untill I took a shot. Horses are beautiful animals, people should not ride them but just love them.......
photograph of the Oberer Plenderlessee near the Dreiseenhütte in Kühtai, at 2.350m above sea level.
looking over the lake you can see the Gaiskogelscharte, and a bit to left you can see the Gaiskogel (2.820m) and the mountain to the very left is the Plenderlesseekogel (2.590m).
as I was up there with my kids and wife, there was no hiking up any higher mountains, but simply enjoy the great weather and take a short hike to the reservoir Finstertal.

Finally off crutches and starting to walk again, we took a short family road trip so I could limp a few feet from my car and shoot images of the wildflower bloom. I hope to be back in the water in a few more weeks! Here, California poppies, Eschscholzia californica, blooming in the spring sunshine near Figueroa Mountain in Santa Barbara County, California, USA.
