We love seeing all of the turtles sunbathing in the marsh at the local state park lately. There are a lot of them!

The red-eared slider belongs to the semi aquatic pond sliders. It lives in North America and is a popular pet there and across the hemisphere. It definitely does not belong in German nature reserves :-(

白腰鵲鴝，就是鳥店家常說的「長尾四喜」，取其(雄鳥)愛唱歌，鳴聲清脆悅耳，很會模仿各種聲音，經常可以一長串地叫出，長得又亮眼的討喜外型而得名。分布：印度，錫蘭，婆羅洲，緬甸，馬來亞，印度支那和菲律賓。 經由人為引進的外來種白腰鵲鴝，因逃脫、棄養的白腰鵲鴝變山大王，適應力超強，生性強悍，喜歡低海拔闊葉林的環境，目前分布的範圍不超過海拔400公尺， 卻對台灣本土生物帶來生存威脅。 農委會發布全台通緝令，他們在台灣野外是通緝犯哦！

Taken in Kensington Gardens on Monday., back to dark damp weather now.

On cold, sunny mornings, the Eared Grebe, like some other grebe species, sunbathes by facing away from the sun and raising its rump, exposing dark underlying skin to light. This behavior may make the bird appear to have a distinctive "high-stern" profile. (CornellLab)
