Bow Summit is the highest point on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 running through the Rockies from Jasper to Lake Louise). From Bow Summit there is a really good view of Peyto Lake.

Peyto Lake is a glacial lake. All glacial lakes are a very bright blue colour because of the suspended particles from the glacier.

The Summit was attended by the prime ministers from the region, comprising of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti and UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond opened the event with key note addresses. After a prime ministers’ session government ministers, political decision-makers and leading entrepreneurs and investors took part in three discussions. The panels debated the development of transport links, the potential for renewable energy and the privatisation agenda in the Western Balkans.

The EBRD-backed SEE Link, an innovative regional platform for trading securities listed on the Bulgarian, Croatian and Macedonian stock exchanges, was launched during the Summit. The Serbian and Slovenian bourses confirmed their intention to join the initiative during the conference in London, boosting regional integration of capital markets.

The event aimed to highlight investment and business opportunities in the region and promote the inflow of foreign direct investment and cross-border projects. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with key political and business representatives.

The Summit follows the first Western Balkans Investment Forum at the EBRD in February 2014 which for the first time had brought together all prime ministers from the region.

The EBRD is one of the largest investors in the Western Balkans and last year alone the Bank invested around €1 billion in various projects from energy efficiency to infrastructure and from support for financial institutions to agribusiness

On a good day from the summit of Snaefell it is said that you can see "seven kingdoms at a glance" and this legend was emblazoned on the railway's advertising for many years. Those kingdoms are: England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Mann (the local term for Isle of Man), the kingdoms of Heaven and the sea

The line originally opened in 1895 at which time a wooden "chalet" type building was erected including a waiting shelter and staff areas but the increased popularity with the Victorian holidaymakers ensured that a larger, brick-built structure was erected at the turn of the century. The original structure was entirely of wooden construction and offered only basic facilities to visitors and such was the popularity of the tramway that it outlived its usefulness within a few years. It is the replacement building that serves the railway today but it is in much-simplified format, the original being situated in the same location.

The original building was installed for the line's opening in 1895 and was of basic timber construction. A replacement stone structure was installed in 1902 and featured castellated turrets and was more Gothic in appearance. A fire gutted the building in 1982 (which was allowed to burn out owing to the remote location and inaccessibility for the fire brigade) and the building was closed for two years thereafter. Owing to the lack of public water supply to the summit, each operating day a tram delivers a bowser of drinking water for use in the restaurant. There was also a bar explaining the one-time title of "Summit Hotel" featured in marketing.

The last few steps of the summit crest of Bear Peak. The light was so flat this morning the only way to get any contrast was to aim for close objects. 8 Bears done, 42 to go.

Summit Panel: The Future of Midtown East.

(From left to right) Moderator Charles Bagli, and Panelists: Edith Hsu-Chen and John West.

Midtown East is a neighborhood that is ripe for redevelopment. Many of the existing buildings were constructed at a time when corporate tenants’ needs were very different from what they are today. Floor plates, building heights, proximity to windows and light, public realm—all of these features are thought of very differently than in the past. The City has opened up a discussion about rezoning the area to allow new growth and development. What are the considerations that need to be included besides simply building height and bulk? What are the needs of modern tenants and how can Midtown be reimagined in a way that makes a livable, adaptable and resilient neighborhood for New York City’s future?
