The cableway was envisioned by the engineer Augusto Ferreira Ramos in 1908 who sought support from well-known figures of Rio's high society to promote its construction. Opened in 1912,[1] it was only the third cableway to be built in the world. Today it is used by approximately 2,500 visitors every day. The cable cars run every 30 minutes, between 8 am and 10 pm.

The Sugarloaf Islands at low tide on sunset. Part of the Sugarloaf Marine Reserve in New Plymouth.
This is a 7 shot stitched panorama. I used my Sigma 10-20mm lens set on 10mm with my tripod at its lowest height just above the sand. My new toy, a Seagull 90 degree view finder attachment, was really handy for this shot! Without it I would have been lying down in the wet sand.
If the horizon seems a little wonky its actually like that as the sand builds up behind the islands.
There is 1.5 km walk up on the foresty road to the Lighthouse.
Seal Rocks, NSW
Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse also known as Seal Rocks Lighthouse is an active light tower that has been operating since December 1875. It was built to stand guard over the rugged and pointy Seal Rocks and Sawtooth Rocks as these were unsuitable to build a lighthouse on. The elegant light tower is one of only two light towers in Australia with an external stairway, and has been automated by electricity since 1987.
This picture of Corcovado was taken at sunset from the top of Sugarloaf mountain while drinking the local favourite brew, Skol!

Comprised of 9 stacked sky images and 1 longer foreground exposure taken in succession and blended to create the final composite.
I went on a trip to a lighthouse and I took lots and lots of photos which I have not really sorted or edited. I also have film to send away. It all might take a while. So here is one to prove it actually happened :)

Sugarloaf Rock Nature Reserve
Cape Naturaliste, Western Australia
God rays emerged from a break in the storm clouds, illuminating the stunning foreground for a brief moment. Photographed from the main observation deck, it was the unique lighting that caught my attention. Using a Natural density filter, I was able to reduce the exposure of the sky and capture a large dynamic range of light in one exposure. I liked how the wavefront of the incoming wave on the right hand side of the frame is in line with the rock face. That was pure coincidence! Some observant viewers will notice that my watermark still states 2013. I tend to follow the date in which the image was taken, instead of the date it was uploaded. Sadly, my camera is still stuck in repair and I have yet to take a single image in 2014. Hopefully, Canon Singapore can speed up their repair process... (It has been close to 3 weeks since I sent my Camera in for repairs!)
1 exp shot, LEE's GND filter (I can't remember the exact filter), edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Another Multi-layer processed photo. I left the foreground a tich darker this time to keep it realistic looking.
