After two successful Animester purchases, I decided to get their crossover with the Grey Raven series to see how it turned out.
So, by this point I have had three Gray Raven figures, and at first I just thought may ArcTech was terrible at getting the thiccness of the ladies. By this point, across three different companies, with three different characters and designs criteria, I've come to realize it isn't the figure makers - the actual source material must have lanky legs.
This particular figure is probably one of the more fancy ones, combining both silicone body parts as well as a soft good outfit. In addition to the figure, there's a few neat accessories, including alternate bangs, three total faceplates, a scabbard, two swords (I think) and a Base/Stand. I think if I actually tried, you can take off the outer shirt, but alas I was too lazy.
Sculpting overall is pretty good, though sadly there are no articulated eyes like with their Thunderbolt Squad series. Mechanical detailing is very nice, and having a larger scale figure gives one that much more physical figure to enjoy it on. The bangs are, unfortunately a bit annoying to deal with, though at least the dynamic ones are nice to look at - the bigger problem with the hair pieces is that the hair pretty much covers the eyes, and from what I've seen of source art the hair is generally parted enough that you always see her right eye.
This also doesn't strike me as one of those characters with very expressive faces, so something like Barbera Red is unfortunately not in the cards either.
So, as the figure isn't fully seamless, the articulation is going to be limited in comparison. Having said that, the articulation is even more restricted than on would, and surprisingly it had nothing to do with the soft good.
I mentioned the hair, and while the back of the hair does move out of the way, overall the hair is bulk and is difficulty to maneuver, which affects head articulation. This is further complicated due to the bulk of the scarf and as mentioned, the lack of eye articulation just seals the deal. Due to the rigid nature of the abdomen section, there's no articulation there, though it should be noted that like Whisky Sour, the Chest and shoulder areas are all seamless. The surprise limiter, however, are the pouches on front of the skirt, which severely limit the the legs ability for forward rotation. Bulk of the leotard at the back restricts backwards leg motion.
Paint Application wise, this is a beautifully painted figure, with the metallic paints being the ones that are the most impressive (like on Barbera Red), though the other applications are quite strong as well. The metallics on the body are harder to make out due to the shirt covering her left arm up, but there's no denying that the scabbard and Red sword look very nice. Decal work is solid as well.
Build Quality wise, as with Barbera Red there are some QC issues with the seamless body, in my case the right hip doesn't like to spread out as far as the left one, though to be fair I feel it's a combination of skeletal and thickness of the silcone skin around the thighs and glutes as this is the only seamless figure i've handled thus far, including the trainwreck that was the Flash Point figure, that actually cannot maintains splits - speaking of the material, I feel that the stuff around the right knee is a bit thin as this is the first time I've actually had the joint pushing out and being very obvious. Shoulders seem alright though the right one appears to be significantly tighter than the left one.
I've found the left knee joint is a tad loose, and causes the figure to collapse when standing though, I think due to weight in general you'll probably want to use a stand for stability. The Red sword doesn't seem to like being held too much and the dynamic bangs like to pop off the face more often than not.

Poem "Application" by Paul Gallico.
The poem ends:
I'm not meant to be a street cat,
Or make myself a furtive shadow
In an alley.
I'm lonely, lonely, lonely,
And frightened!
Please may I come in?
This photo was taken the day Daisy arrived here. Until today I'd forgotten how worried she looked then. My Flickr friends know the story had a happy ending - after being a frightened stray kitten, Daisy devoted her time to training me perfectly to provide everything she needs!

The hugely successful international coach and referee development programme run by the Premier League and the British Council launches a new phase in Khartoum. The week-long course will provide intensive practical training for 44 male and female grassroots football coaches and 20 referees from Sudan and South Sudan.
Premier Skills Phase 2 is taking place from 7 December 2011 to the 12 December 2011 and will be led by Jeremy Weeks, a UEFA qualified coach previously employed by Fulham Football Club. He will be supported by Rachel Parker and Stephen McCarthy, community coaches from Bolton Wanderers and Queen’s Park Rangers Football Clubs respectively.
Running alongside the coach programme will be an ‘Introduction to Refereeing’ course, which will focus on teaching community organisation representatives the rules of football, and how to officiate the game of football at any level. The course is being led by former international FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, and will be assisted by Alan Wiley, who was a professional Premier League referee up to his retirement in 2010. This component will run from 5 December 2011 to the 7th December 2011.
The courses in Khartoum are being jointly organised by the British Council, Premier League and Sudan Football Association, who will launch the Premier Skills Phase 2 programme on 7 December 2011 at the Khartoum Football Stadium. This will also celebrate the completion of the referee course. The second phase of the Premier Skills programme is also supported by the Sudanese Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Khartoum Youth Council.

The successful songs "willow" and "cardigan" by Taylor Swift were initially written for the indie rock group The National, according to a recent NME story. Swift collaborated with the band's guitarist, Aaron Dessner, on her most recent album, "evermore," which includes both of the number-one singles.
Originally intended for The National, Dessner admitted in an interview that he wrote the piano parts for "cardigan" and "willow" with Swift in mind. However, Swift fell in love with the songs and chose to utilise them for her own album. Dessner called it "surreal," adding that he never envisioned working with Swift, much less having her record one of his songs.
"cardigan" and "willow" are Swift's eighth and ninth chart-topping singles, respectively, and both songs debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list. The songs have received accolades for their ethereal and melancholic feel, and many admirers and detractors have speculated about the significance of the lyrics.
Fans of both Swift and the indie rock band The National have shown interest in the discovery that the songs were initially written for The National. Some people have even wondered what the songs might have sounded like if The National had recorded them instead.
Despite the songs' unexpected beginnings, "cardigan" and "willow" have grown to be two of Swift's most popular and successful songs.

The body switch was successful! I got these neat option hands with the body...the little hand poses are very cute.
I've been hoping and wishing for a Bee's Dreamland custom for quite some time, almost as long as Bee started accepting commissions. My plan was to find a reasonably (HA!) priced Blythe. Preferably secondhand, used, nude, since I didn't care about the stock face-up since ideally, she'd be entirely customized.
But genuine secondhand Blythes are hard to come by. I've been looking for months, but no such luck. I found some on ebay numerous times, kept getting outbid and I gave up. My next step was to order a Blythe release, but I never got around to that as I'm kind of waiting for one that I like (stock wig & outfit)..
In the meantime, Bee has been doing her Blythe customs, and Custom #9 is her little tan sweetie with the beautiful blonde hair. This doll is a fake Blythe...and while I generally don't support knockoff/bootleg/fake products, for this doll, I bent my own rules because she's just too cute to resist. (And really, it's not her fault she's not made of genuine Takara parts).
I still plan on finding a genuine Blythe to send to Bee's Dreamland to get made-over, but even if it never happens, I can say I'm quite content with this little lass. I've named her Paloma.
Where do you stand on the fake/factory Blythe issue? I don't support it, and am aware that my owning one makes me hypocritical. But at the end of the day, it is my money, and it is my doll collection. I know she is a fake Blythe, knew that from the very beginning when I made the conscious decision to pop by Bee's Dreamland on etsy and put her in my shopping cart.
I don't plan on purchasing any more fake Blythes (or fake any dolls, for that matter), but I can truthfully tell you that I'd love this doll the same if she were genuine Takara made. Paloma is definitely a permanent resident--I've brought her to work with me and she now brightens up my dreary desk in the back office. I love being able to see her when I'm having a crap day at work.
The Fingal 10KM Road Race was held in Swords, North County Dublin, Ireland on Sunday July 22nd 2012 at 10:00. This is the first running of this event as it is a brand new fixture in the successful annual Dublin Marathon Race Series. The Fingal 10KM is unique in the series that it is being held outside of the Phoenix Park. Three athletic clubs from Fingal ( Clonliffe Harriers, Fingallians and Metro St Brigids ) assisted in organising the event. Revenue generated by the race will be channelled back to these clubs. Support is also provided by Fingal County Council. Overall there was a very large level of participation in the event with almost 5,000 athletes taking to the streets of Swords and roads of surrounding areas.
