Built soon after 1800 by local subscribers, who raised money by buying shares in the company. This employed a miller to live in the house and serve the village by grinding locally grown grain. A bakehouse was added for later. By the end of the C19th it had lost its sails and fallen out of use.
In 2008 the Ullesthorpe Windmill Project was started by local people to restore the mill. Fortunately much of the wooden machinery inside remains.

I'm not sure how many people use this product for RSS feeds. Although its decent, there are always things you would like to see added. For example, how hard can it be to add a sort feature?!?

I was cleaning out a box of old junk mail from my parents estate and discovered this old gem of computer history. Its a subscription offer for RUN magazine. RUN was the support magazine for Commodore's line of 8 bit computers.

Inscribed on plinth, base: ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION TO THE MEMORY OF JAMES RENFORTH, OF GATESHEAD, CHAMPION SCULLER OF THE WORLD,WHO DIED AUGUST 23 1871 AGED 29 YEARS, WHILE ROWING IN AN INTERNATIONAL BOAT-RACE BETWEEN ENGLISH AND AMERICAN CREWS ON THE KENNEBECASSIS RIVER NEAR ST JOHN'S N.B.
James Renforth was an English Tyneside professional oarsman. He was born in Rabbit Banks, Gateshead on 7th April 1842 and spent much of his childhood in Pipewell Gate, Gateshead. He became the World Sculling Champion in 1868 he received a £90 prize for winning a sculling race at the Thames Regatta also in 1868, and later that same year beat Harry Kelley to become the World Sculling Champion.
He was one of three great Tyneside oarsmen, the other two being Harry Clasper and Robert Chambers.
The following is a report of his death on 23rd August 1871:-
"At a quarter to nine o'clock, within two hours of the time when he had left the same house full of health and spirits, our dear comrade and England's greatest oarsman passed quietly to rest, without a struggle, and apparently without pain, in the arms of the most skilful competitor he ever had and one of his truest friends-Harry Kelley." An inquest was held over the body in Canada, when a verdict of "Died from natural causes" was returned.-The career of Renforth, though short, was an eventful one in the annals of boat rowing."
