The Three Dead Kings: Part 4

The second king stutters, that sovereign of might

Whose vigour and valour were often vaunted,

“M – methinks, m – my lords, I s – see the strangest sight

That m – men under the s – sun have ever been granted:

Three liches, all loathly, seeking lost light,

With lips all shredded, and livers rotted!

If we flee, all the city will pity our plight.

Peril besieges us. Fate has plotted

Against us – and now

I am telling you true,

Though we hunt boars, shout “Ho!”

To these ghouls we must bow,

Or run off – and rue!”

Fifteenth century Middle English alliterative poem ‘De Tribus Regibus Mortuis’, attributed to John Audelay, translated by Giles Watson. The picture shows detail from a wall-painting depicting The Three Living and the Three Dead, from Widford Church, near Burford, in the Cotswolds.

This image shows half the cerebral hemisphere of a macaque monkey. The blue bundle of fibers running horizontally across the middle of the image is called the cingulum bundle, described by Wedeen as “a multilane highway” that runs from the prefrontal cortex, which is involved in planning and higher cognitive function, to the parietal cortex, which is mainly involved in synthesizing sensory information.

Circular star rotation images are a popular part of my long exposure photo workshop ( www.uniquecaptures.com/My-Workshops/Long-Exposure-Photo-W... ) and have been a popular image online this year. However, this is an example that many would not show because it's the result of an error.

Rewind a couple weeks. I broke / wore out my intervalometer and purchased two new ones. While they were on order I had borrowed one from a friend and it was identical to mine with a different name. So mine showed up the other night and I went out without testing them and assumed that the technique of setting one would be the same as setting any other I've used. I set up for 4 minute exposures at ISO 400 and figured I would end up with a nice clean stackable image. The bummer is that I set for a 4:00 minute shot and a 4:01 interval. Thinking that I set up for a 1 second delay I walked away. I learned later after downloading that I have a total of 9 shots with 4 minutes between each shot.

Probably not going to become to popular but but I thought I would share the result of a 4 on 4 off star trail shot.
