Sorry for the cluttered room, but you really can make just about any space “studio” space. This is a three light shot with a reflector for fill. It was set up “on location” in the living room. Just to see if I could, I set it up without moving any furniture…
From left to right:
--Main Light: Sony HVL-F42AM flash in a Photoflex LiteDome XS softbox. It uses the Photoflex Adjustable Shoe Mount Hardware (AC-B222SM) that has been modified to allow attachment of the Sony MS-1 flash mini stand to the bracket so the Sony/Minolta flash units slip right in (see here for how it’s used with a shoe flash).
--Wescott “Desert Scape” 10 X 12 backdrop on a Savage Port-A-Stand
--Background Light: Minolta 3600HSD flash in a Wescott Mico Apollo Light Modifier on a short stand
--PhotoVision 14" Pocket One-Shot Digital Calibration Target
--Hair Light: Minolta 3600HSD flash in a Wescott Mico Apollo Light Modifier on a tall stand (reflected off the white ceiling to cut back on it’s power—remember the 3600’s are manual flash units when used in wireless mode)
--Fill reflector: Photoflex LitePanel 39"x72" reflector with simi-silver fabric
…And a Manfrotto tripod to hold the camera. I also use a Minolta RC-1000L remote cord to fire the camera—I like the steps of focus, then hold for expression, then fire. The image here was exposed using only the three flash units used in the configuration. Sample shots are here and here...
In addition to the songwriting prowess of the writers and producers, one of the major factors in the widespread appeal of Motown's music was Gordy's practice of using a highly select and tight-knit group of studio musicians, collectively known as "The Funk Brothers", to record the instrumental or "band" tracks of the Motown songs. Among the studio musicians responsible for the "Motown Sound" were keyboardists Earl Van Dyke, Johnny Griffith, and Joe Hunter; guitarists Joe Messina, Robert White, and Eddie Willis; percussionists Eddie "Bongo" Brown and Jack Ashford; drummers Benny Benjamin, Uriel Jones, and Richard "Pistol" Allen; and bassists James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt.
Much of the Motown Sound came from the use of overdubbed and duplicated instrumentation. Motown songs regularly featured two drummers instead of one (either overdubbed or in unison), as well as three or four guitar lines. Bassist James Jamerson often played his instrument with only his index finger, and created many of the basslines apparent on Motown songs such as "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes.

Rearranged my studio so the keyboards are on my left when my right hand is on the mouse. Still hoping to get thick carpet in and an Oberheim OB-8! Note, this is a tiny room (about 11 x 11) but looks bigger because the pic was taken with a very wide angle lens (Sigma 10-20).

Universal Studios Hollywood is a movie studio in Universal City, California, and is the original Universal Studios theme park. Woody Woodpecker is the mascot for Universal Studios Hollywood and the rest of the Universal Studios Theme Parks. It is one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood movie studios still in use. Its official marketing headline is "The Entertainment Capital of LA," though during the summer it is often advertised as "The Coolest Place in LA." It was initially created to offer tours of the real Universal Studios soundstages and sets. It is the first of many fully-fledged Universal Studios Theme Parks, along with Universal Studios Florida, Universal Studios Japan, and the upcoming Universal Studios Singapore, Universal Studios Dubai, and Universal Studios South Korea theme parks.
My studio has been in disarray for a few months now. I finally had time to redress most of my pullips and rearrange things so I could display the new additions I got over the holidays.

All Hallows Church, South-East London
For a period of time in the early 1980s, All Hallows Church was converted into a recording studio and became the home of hits. Blackwing Studios was where Depeche Mode laid down their debut album "Speak & Spell", and it was also here that Yazoo made their early recordings. Blackwing was one of the studios that led the way in producing the synth sound associated with Brit Pop. The studios closed in September 2001. The building has been empty ever since.
