Whitetail Buck - Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Ahhh - here we are again at the mid-Summer point...and the bucks are now coming out into the open more, sporting their almost fully developed velvet racks. I know that a lot of my Flickr contacts who are also Whitetail enthusiasts are looking forward to the coming month. Here in Virginia, the process will be done in 30 days or so, and the antlers will continue to grow at a rate of 1-2 inches per week.

Came across a familiar buck yesterday morning, one that I refer to as KING - and his rack is looking awesome again this year - but he still has 30 days to grow yet! This year he is shaping out to possibly be a 12-pointer, that is if the previous 2 kicker points form on his G4's this year (it looks as if they are there beneath the velvet). Note the 2 new sticker points on the back of his left antler - sweet! This guy is going to be a magnificent non-typical specimen in a few more years.

You will note there is a bit of noise in these 2 photos - I was taking photos of another buck at daybreak and I had set the ISO up to 6400 - and of course forgot to set it back. Go figure. There wasn't a great deal of light when this was taken at 6:25am but I think I could have done much better with ISO 1600 instead.

View a 27 second HD video clip which shows off the height of his antlers much better than these photos do. I didn't get the angle I should have with this 'small window' opportunity, and as you may know, certain angles just don't do justice to a bucks rack.

The Super Stud store called, they're out of me...

I found Primo bricks with two different stud logos.

I even found mold number 03 6 with both versions, which suggests that the logo was changed.

Looking into the history of the sets that used these bricks probably reveals why. These bricks were first sold as Duplo Primo (1995–96, using the Duplo bunny logo) then as LEGO Primo (1997–99, using the Primo elephant logo) and became LEGO Baby in 2000 (using the the Baby elephant logo). The LEGO Baby line combined with the Duplo line to make Lego Explore from 2002 till mid-2004. Then the product lines were split again. LEGO reused LEGO Baby again from mid-2004 (using the Baby bear logo) until the line was discontinued in 2006. The last set using "Primo" bricks was released in 2005.

Couldn't get a front shot :(
