A poor scan of the lone image I was able to find of Mount Hope Park after combing countless books and archives. This looks like the park in a state of dissolution. A carousel is present, but the park once had many other rides and structures, including a pier (the ruins of which are still on site). A much nicer scan of the same image is available in Simpson (2001), Bristol: Mountaup to Poppasquash.

Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture’s design for the Powerhouse Science Center re-envisions a historic riverfront structure as a hub for science education, exploration and promotion in the City of Sacramento. On the banks of the Sacramento River, the Science Center grows out from an abandoned power station building. As a principal component of the Riverfront activation, the Powerhouse Science Center anchors Robert T. Matsui Waterfront Park and borders the southern terminus of the 32-mile American River Bike Trail.
Vacant for over half a century, the structure undergoes a complete historic rehabilitation and the construction of a new floor level inside. A new two-story addition projects from the east side, containing a lobby, classrooms, offices and a cafe. A 110-seat planetarium is prominently on display with a zinc-clad hemispheric dome rising above the building’s mass. As representation of our place in the universe, the facade and building mass is sectioned by multiple planes, creating continuous vector lines that extend across the building and site. From satellites to world landmarks, the lines form connections with local and global points of interest.
The original PG&E Power Station B was designed in 1912 in the Beaux Arts Style by architect Willis Polk and was formally closed in 1954. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, California Register of Historic Places and the Sacramento Register of Historic & Cultural Resources. The Powerhouse Science Center is designed to achieve a USGBC LEED Rating of Silver.

All these structures are slated for demolition by BP, which wants to wipe out historic Marktown to create more parking - as if they couldn't find open land elsewhere around their vast refinery.

Andi and I visited my family in San Diego a couple weeks ago. As we've done in the past, we went for a long photo walk at Torrey Pines. We walked a couple of the trails that we had missed before, so we were able to find some new photo opportunities. The weather was mostly overcast and cool, with a bit of structure in the clouds, which made for fairly nice light but not much drama. I brought along my Nikon FM3 with 24mm and 85mm lenses and my Leica M2 with a 50mm lens. Both cameras were loaded with Agfa black and white film, either APX 100 and 400.

On Scene with the Bridgeport Fire Department with a structure fire at 88 Horace St. Crews were called for a fire in the upper floors of a 2.5 story OMD. The first due engine and truck found the second floor and attic well involved with heavy fire coming out of the second floor porch. A special call was put in for addional engines and the safety officer due to the extent of the fire and the summer heat. The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes but the structure required extensive overhaul to be sure all of the fire was extinguished. Representatives of the City's Fire Investigation Unit responded to process the scene and interview any and all witnesses to the fire. Though several families and thier pets were displaced no injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was cited as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."
While the white domed marble mausoleum is most familiar, Taj Mahal is an integrated complex of structures that was completed around 1648. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri is generally considered as the principal designer of Taj Mahal.
