Firefighters found heavy fire coming from a one-story single-family home, which had spread to one neighboring home (and minor damage to a detached garage). The incident commander requested additional units and divided the fire ground crews into groups to attack all burning structures simultaneously. Ultimately, it took 39 firefighters 31 minutes to eliminate all threat of fire in the area. Although there were no injuries, sadly, one family canine perished in the blaze. At 3:36 AM, units were dispatched to a structure fire in the Old Town Tavern in Goleta. Moments later Sheriff's Deputies reported heavy smoke and flames through the roof of the structure. A rapid aggressive attack by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent structures. The cause of the fire was determined to be an overloaded electrical power strip.

Panorama City Structure Fire by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 5:35PM on February 27, 2022 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the 9400 block of N Cedros Av, in Panorama City, for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a one story, single family dwelling with heavy fire showing.

29 firefighters fully extinguished the fire (which was primarily in the attic) in 31 minutes with no injuries reported.

Fire Destroys Trailer in Shadow Hills by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 4:03PM on November 13, 2021 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the 8600 block of W La Tuna Canyon Road for a reported structure fire. The first arriving fire companies found an outside fire, well involved travel trailer, exposing a single family dwelling. While firefighters conducted an offensive fire attack, additional crews sequestered a number of exotic animals on the property to ensure they were safe. A knockdown was achieved in 21 minutes. Two adult patients (one male and one female) were evaluated on scene and later declined LAFD transport. The cause is under investigation.

Firefighters arrived to find two-story condos with smoke showing.

The fire, which ran the pipe alley between units and extended into two, was extinguished with no injuries reported.

One Man Dies Overnight in a South LA Commercial Fire by Los Angeles Fire Department

CENTRAL-ALAMEDA - A late-night commercial fire destroyed an industrial building and killed one man inside of his business.

In the last few remaining minutes of Monday, May 3, 2021, at 11:57 PM, the alarm went out to alert firefighters of a commercial building engulfed in flames on the 1800 block of East 57th Street. Firefighters immediately recognized the need to use defensive tactics and fight this fire with copious amounts of water from the exterior. The Incident Commander called for additional fire crews, making it a Greater Alarm incident. Firefighters positioned themselves on all sides of the building to protect the many surrounding structures. Firefighters protected adjacent buildings from all but minor flame impingement.

LAFD's robotic firefighting unit was utilized during the incident. RS3 was able to enter the structure and apply water to harder-to-reach areas without exposing firefighters to the collapse risk of the burned out structure. Ultimately, sixty-seven firefighters extinguished the flames in seventy-two minutes.

After the fire was out, firefighters discovered that, tragically, one man had perished inside. The Coroner responded and met with the family to verify his identity. The family reported that he was a carpenter and often worked during the late evening and early morning hours. The wood and materials from his business appear to have added to the intense fire load within the building, causing the fire to grow extremely fast. Crews remained on scene overnight to ensure the debris did not reignite.

The cause of the fire is under active investigation.

At 9:32PM on March 16, 2022 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 6900 block of N Corbin Av in Winnetka. Firefighters found a one story, single family dwelling with fire showing. Crews engaged in an aggressive interior fire attack and rooftop ventilation. One occupant was found with burns and transported to a local hospital. It took 35 firefighters just 16 minutes to extinguish the flames. Red Cross was notified to assist with approximately five displaced residents.

Midnight Blaze in South Los Angeles by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 10:55PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 1700 block of E 57th Street for a reported structure fire. The first arriving companies found a large (approximately 300’ x 500’) pallet yard with heavy fire showing. Additional resources were quickly requested as crews moved into the defensive mode.

Firefighters went to work on all four sides of this incident, conducting fire attack against several outbuildings in the compound of the yard while simultaneously establishing master streams to drown out the pallet fire. Downed, high voltage power lines created an additional safety hazard for crews to work around.

116 LAFD firefighters, assisted by several companies from Los Angeles County Fire Department, working under the command of Assistant Chief Antoine McKnight, declared a knockdown of the fire in one hour and four minutes, with no injuries reported. No residential homes outside of the compound were damaged.

This was a Major Emergency status structure fire and thus, per protocol, LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section (ACTS) responded and are actively investigating the cause of the fire.

Rubbish Fire Spreads to Pacoima Pallet Yard by Los Angeles Fire Department

PACOIMA - At 2:23 PM on Sunday, August 1, 2021, on the 11000 block of North Sutter Avenue, LAFD responded to a rubbish fire that extended to a pallet yard, threatening nearby commercial buildings. Firefighters had the train tracks shut down and quickly doused the pallet yard fire, extinguishing the flames in 31 minutes and skillfully protecting the nearby structures. There were no reported injuries and no extension into the nearby buildings. The cause is under investigation.

PANORAMA CITY - In the early morning hours of Monday, July 20, 2020, it took 60 LAFD firefighters one hour and 42 minutes to extinguish the one-story commercial building in the 14500 block of W Arminta Street (business name/type unknown) that was consumed by flames. Heavy fire and wires down blocking the access point caused firefighters to battle with a defensive posture, applying heavy streams including ladder pipes. No reported injuries. LAFD Battles Flames in Tujunga Home by Los Angeles Fire Department

TUJUNGA - LAFD was summoned to 6461 West Valmont Street in Tujunga at 2:51 AM on Sunday, October 18, 2020, for a residential structure fire. Twenty-six firefighters engaged in battle, starting with a defensive attack from the exterior and transitioning to an offensive attack inside the structure, ultimately eliminating the flames in 33 minutes. There were no reported injuries.

Boyle Heights Fire Proves Stubborn by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 12:37AM on July 14, 2020 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2200 block of E 1st St. Firefighters arrived to find a one story row of commercial units with fire showing. 100 firefighters battled and extinguished the stubborn fire in two hours and 10 minutes. This was an extended operation due to the difficulty accessing all areas of the fire because of the roof collapse. No were injuries reported. LAFD Arson Section responded for the cause investigation, per protocol for a fire of this size.

In 18 mins, the 46 firefighters on scene extinguished a fully involved single family dwelling and defended neighobring homes from damage. Two adult male patients were transported with burn injuries and LAFD Arson units responded for the investigation.

Firefighters arrived to find a two-story garden-style apartment with fire showing. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and contained the fire to its unit of origin. It took 26 firefighters just 13 minutes to extinguish the flames. Firefighter-paramedics evaluated and treated four patients, and transported at two of them to the hospital .Thankfully, everyone escaped the building, as audible alarms could be heard from functional smoke detectors warning occupants of the danger.

Firefighter-paramedics evaluated and treated four patients, and transported at two of them to the hospital .Thankfully, everyone escaped the building, as audible alarms could be heard from functional smoke detectors warning occupants of the danger.

Panorama City Fire Stopped by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 2:26AM on July 12, 2020 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 9800 block of N Vesper Av in Panorama City. Firefighters arrived to find a two story apartment building with fire showing from at least one unit. 90 firefighters extinguished the fire in 37 minutes with the fire primarily contained to the unit of origin but with some extension to two additional units. No injuries were reported.

Pacoima Fire Quickly Handled by Los Angeles Fire Department

At 7:40PM on November 7, 2020 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 12300 block of W Osborne St in Pacoima. 28 firefighters extinguished a contents-only fire in one upstairs bedroom in 13 minutes. A 60-year-old male was assessed and treated on scene by firefighter-paramedics for minor smoke inhalation, but declined transport to the hospital.

At 11:49PM on July 25, 2023 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 8700 block of S Orchard Av.

Firefighters arrived to find a one story, single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing. Firefighters initiative an offensive attack and extinguished the fire in 10 minutes with no injuries reported.
