This amazing glass couture piece Structures of Self was recently modeled by one of the collaborating artists during the new Beakerhead festival of science, art and engineering. The idea to collaborate on an a photoshoot that paired the alien/bug like garment with the 40 foot RayGun Gothic Rocketship during the setting sun, made for some pretty creative images

A very modern design of stucture atop Moiwayama Observation Deck. Looks like a time machine that travels back and forth the time stream.
This roof structure was amazing. This is only a small section that repeated about 10 times and was at least 100 feet long. It the dome building at Messe in Frankfurt, Germany.

Once in position it wasn’t long before the windows, lower panels and doors were removed, revealing parts of the basic structure.
Steel roof structure of the shopping mall at the V&A Waterfront. I feel this picture really captures the strength of steel and engineering - almost poetical.

Mudcracks are diagnostic sedimentary structures indicating subaerial exposure of sediment surfaces, with alternating wet & dry conditions. They are much more common that raindrop imprints, which indicate the same environmental setting. Mudcracks are most likely to occur in fine-grained siliciclastic sediments, fine-grained carbonate sediments, and in some evaporitic settings.
Mudcracks are distinctive and easy to identify, but they do vary in appearance. The cracks themselves vary in width, depth, and areal density. Mudcrack polygons also vary in size & shape.
