Domus Municipalis (Portugal's oldest and largest town hall) Located in the Terreiro do Castelo alongside the Church of Santa Maria, the structure is based on a multi-level irregular pentagon, constructed of rounded granite blocks and held together by mortar, while covered by wooden roof tiles.
The Domus is constituted by two distinct spaces: the primitive cistern (documented after 1446), in order to store spring water; and a superior space that served as a gathering place for meetings of the "good men" of the community. It was in the first years of the 16th century that the municipalization of Bragança, from documents dated 1503.
In many of the documents, the building is referred to as the Sala da Água (English: Hall of Water).
One of the shields has been identified as having been sculpted during the modern era. Carlos Alberto Ferreira de Almeida noted that the other medallions, the diamond-shaped openings and the organization of windows, date the structure the beginning of the 14th century, or end of the 13th century. Near one of the entrances is a bronze plaque used by the archaeologist Gomez Moreno to indicate his investigations in the structure.
New York, NY (8/21/16) - I had to show the guard my dad's facebook photo of this place since he was a here a month ago. He then pointed us in the direction of where these collection of shopping stores are housed within an Oculus shaped architectural marvel. The bone like structure of Westfield WTC is what gives it it's signature look. Apparently, it cost $4 billion to achieve this beauty. Time will tell whether or not it's worth it. However, one can't deny the modernistic grandeur of this shopping mall when walking through the vastness of its white and reflective floors.
I found this at the edge of a recreation ground whilst looking for something else. At first I thought it was a railway tunnel air vent but there aren't any tunnels in the area. Also, whilst it seems circular, the other side is actually flat. So no idea, really.
Unusual several story tall abandoned structure found in rural Eastern Washington farming county.

This was taken whilst close to Olympic Park.
I think that the overcast sky and the pushing of the black levels have made this appear like something a bit shadowy and menacing (in a way).
I think that the cables help to give a good sense of depth.
I like that you also get a good idea of the size of these structures without having a person in the photo.
The last forty years of the century has seen the gradual decline of the structure. In 1969, with visitor numbers falling to a mere 3,054, the last Isle of Man Steam Packet Company steamers landed at the pier-head as all services were suspended. Thankfully Ramsey Queens Pier did remain open for the use of holidaymakers wishing to promenade, along with anglers who have always been regular visitors. Finally, in 1979, the disused wooden landing stage had deteriorated to the extent that it had to be fenced off from the main deck for public safety. 1981 saw the closure of the tramway and by 1990 the landing stage had separated from the main deck and was awaiting removal by the Department of Highways, Ports and Properties. The seaward end café was destroyed by fire in 1991, being replaced by a shelter and toilets. These facilities were sadly vandalised within days of them opening and this, along with other structural concerns, sealed the pier's closure.
Restoration costs are estimated at £2m -£4m and, despite the pier's future remaining doubtful, the 'Friends of Ramsey Queens Pier' continue to lobby the Manx Government and National Heritage in an attempt to get sufficient funds to see the pier ultimately restored, and re-opened. Hopefully, determination and spirit will win over the usual political manouvering and we wish the 'Friends' every success in their campaign. Ramsey is a charming resort, and the pier definitely contributes to the traditional atmosphere there. Its loss would be tragic. The Manx Government would be prudent to consider one thing: as recent tourists we naturally digested much of the publicity material about the island, and in nearly every instance a photograph of the pier advertised the town of Ramsey!
Units of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded a full-first alarm to a reported structure fire on Scarboro Place in San Ramon on March 17th, 2014. First due Engine 39 arrived and confirmed a working structure fire with smoke and flames showing and established Scarboro IC and requested all incoming units continue in Code 3. IC was taken over by Battalion 31 (3112) upon arrival on scene. The fire was out by the time I arrived on scene, but all apparatus (with the exception of Engine 32A) were still on scene. A second alarm was struck summoning more engines, more battalion units, and the Breathing Support Unit to the scene. Responding units included Trucks 31 and 35, Engines 34, 38, 32, 30, 39, Paramedic 39, Rescue Medic 31, Battalion 31, 3110, 3112, 3113, and Breathing Support 31.

The ancient village of Harran, near the border with Syria, is famous for the architecture of its adobe "beehive" houses, which use virtually no wood or other supports and whose design favourably regulates the temperature. Villages still lived in the houses in the lkate 20th century but they have now been abandoned (villagers live nearby in modern structures) and the site is now an archaeological site for tourists and visitors.
At around 4 pm the Riverside FD was toned out for the possible structure fire smoke showing from the building. PD got on scene secured a perimeter and evacuated some of the residents. Day crew in 1621 (engine out of riversides second house) along with 1614 and 1607 ( a LT who was in Sta 1) responded to the scene. Once on scene 1621 stretched one 1' 3/4. 1607 once on scene struck out a full still alarm. There was smoke showing from the rear of the building from both the second and first floor. But more importantly there was smoke coming from the basement. So they brought the line into the basement. When 1629 got on scene they were assigned ventilation. There was a problem on the roof though. Besides being steep the vent team had a very hard time getting through the roof, which was 4 shingles thick and a 1' 1/4 underneath that. And to add a cherry on top there was tons and tons of insulation which had to be pulled out. Also in one words of the FF operating the saw. "I was getting more smoke from the saw then the hole". While the attack was in the basement a second one was stretched just behind them, the attack team lost pressure in their line and the team behind them took the lead. It was all and all a quick knock...most of the fire damage was contained to the basement. The vent team was very lucky though when they made one of their holes, it was above the stairwell leading from the first to second floor which got a lot of smoke out. According to the FF in the basement which they could not see their hands in front of their faces, as soon as they vented the roof they gained Visibility. Pictured is 1629, 1621, and RPD 51
