Pendant que j'attendais bien assis dans la boue aux algues de la rive du Lac Champlain, j'avais tout de même apporté un tapis de sol, soudainement ce couple de Libellule s'est installé tout près de moi à quelques pieds du sol et est resté ainsi plus d'une minute à faire du sur place pendant leur accouplement... Ce fut suffisant pour que je puisse ajuster quelques paramètres de mon boîtier et les capter convenablement... Doux plaisir...
Alain m'a appris que cette espèce de Libellule était un grand migrateur comme le Papillon Monarque. On peut lire à son sujet, sur Wikipedia entre autres, qu'un spécimen de cette Pantales peut parcourir jusqu'à 6000 kilomètres en comparaison des 5000 kilomètres que parcourra le Monarque à partir du Québec jusqu'au Mexique l'automne venu. Ces pantales, au total, auront besoin de quatre générations pour compléter leur migration vers le sud et parcourront jusqu'à 18000 kilomètres. Vraiment un grand migrateur!

This little sparrow was different from the start...he was much smaller than his siblings and couldn´t fly..te had several injuries that meant he couldn´t fly. His mom alway´s fed him from the ground.
He´s grown a lot bigger now and can go where he wants to go. He just hops instead of flying. When he´s looking for shelter he just goes into our thick hedge. Great little guy!
