The harbour at Stromness in Orkney. A pretty little vessel named 'Floki' was moored up in the foreground, the largest vessel in the harbour was the MV Hamnavoe, the largest of the vehicle ferries that operates between the Scottish mainland and the Orkney Islands.
This historic whaling community is rusting back to soil. There are plenty of Elephant seals there to help it.

A morning walk along the charming main street of Stromness.
I arrived in the gateway to Scapa Flow with no expectations, tagging along on a pre-arranged itinerary, and instantly adored the town, in particular the main thoroughfare that squeezes round and between the line Hamnavoe Harbour. On our bikes, the flagstone street, with its cobbled centre-line, felt like an urban adventure track; traversing the length of it each morning from the camp site was a great way to wake up.
