Yes the lens was clean.
No there is nothing wrong (at least in my opinion) with the camera or the shot.
Welcome to the world of (smoky) two stroke motorcycles.
I'm looking at this shot and wondering what the environmental issues were all about. Only joking.
If you look closely, you might be able to see a Suzuki racing motorcycle and possibly even a person warming it up.
"Two Strokes". I love 'em. In fact I've even got a whole Flickr album dedicated to the smoky little blighters.
Summer heat got you down? Don't worry, it won't be long and the shit-fest that is winter will be back. In the meantime, here's something to cool you off. A frigid Saturday morning finds the ND&W making a rare early morning eastbound run with an engine that actually faces the right way. Notice the severe lean of the train.
Under the ownership of the Maumee & Western, the east end of the railroad had three west-facing units with no way to turn any of them, so locals rejoiced when the ND&W brought in two GP16's that actually face east.
Two stroke smoke from a pair of JL Jim Lomas Expansion Chambers.
If I was stuck behind some old van or taxi churning out this amount of smoke, I'd be going crazy.....but as it happens.....
A shot from the first day I stepped into a photo pit. The Strokes at Nashville Riverstages 2004. A crusty old pro slapped my elbow and told me to turn my camera the other way when I went vertical so the elbow wouldn't be up in the air, blocking people behind me.

The little endurance runner
For decades, Zündapp was a well-known brand name among motorcyclists. In 1957 this Nürnberg producer added a small car to its program as they saw their two-wheel customers leaving for the auto industry. 6,902 were eventualty buiit.
Optical illusion
That the front and rear were almost indistinguishabIe led to the Zündapp Janus being the most controversial small car of its time. Today it's a collector's item. The car on display has only 520 original kilometres. It was acquired in October 1984 from Zündapp bankruptcy assets.

STROKE: THE SILENT KILLER, A PREVENTABLE AND TREATABLE CATASTROPHE
*Stroke is a global epidemic that threatens lives, health, and quality of life.
It is a major cause of long term disabilities and premature death
Stroke occurs when a vessel that brings blood to the brain bursts or is clogged by a blood clot. With today’s unhealthy lifestyles and numerous health issues such as high blood pressure, physical inactivity, smoking, alcohol overuse, stroke has grown to be an epidemic all over the world. Stroke accounts for 5.7 million deaths each year worldwide and ranks second to ischemic heart disease as a cause of death. It is also a leading cause of serious disability, sparing no age, sex, ethnic origin, or country.
