Long exposure at Rock Island in Trail, BC, Canada

The edge of a square in the old town in Goslar late at night.

It's always fun to play with a little motion blur with fall foiliage. To do this, I used a tripod and set a shutter speed of 0.5sec. I moved the camera vertically while pressing the shutter button. This kind of gives the impression of brush strokes.

Dynamic streaks of colour flow diagonally across the canvas, creating an energetic visual effect. Splashes of various hues add depth and movement.

🎼 Avril Lavigne - Bad Girl (feat. Marilyn Manson)" 🎼

"Choke me because I said so

Stroke me and feed my ego

I've been a bad girl, don't you know?

(Don't tell me what to do)

Come get it now or never

I'll let you do whatever

I'll be your bad girl, here we go

(One, two, three, four)

Miss me, miss me, now you wanna kiss me

Baby

You know I want a little taste, taste

So let me take you all the way, way

You know you'll never be the same, same

One night

You won't forget the rest of your life

So come on over to the wild side

Buckle up and, baby, hold on tight

Miss me, miss me, now you wanna kiss me

We both know that you love me 'cause I'm so bad

(You f*ckin' bad girl)"

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously.. Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

* S Ask the individual to SMILE.

* T Ask the person to TALK - SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE

* R Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke}

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved

One of the most extraordinary aspects of bird photography is closely observing the bird's behavior and learning the exciting aspects. The double-crested cormorant is a pretty common bird around the area's lakes, and you can often find them sunning on the rocks or dead branches near water features. On a recent trip to Siloam Springs lake, I found a cormorant about to take off. The cormorant first moved to water a seemed like it was going to swim around a bit. But suddenly, a lot of rapid movement happened under the surface, and the cormorant fully extended its wings. In a few strokes, the bird generated a lot of speed and was airborne. A lot of the action happened under the water, and you could see the effects as the water exploded behind the bird.

All this happened in about three seconds, and I was thankful I had my camera trained on the bird. I could have preferred a better composition that didn’t include the errant blades of grass, but in situations like rarely do you have control over that aspect.

Ok..so I posted this just to tell a story.

So The Strokes were to perform a free show for fans as part of SXSW festivies but little did they know that the band would have the park at "capacity" and well beyond. Now I've seen people jumping fences at ACL,SXSW and many other places. But at a free show?Really? And I guess people tearing down fences at more than one spot obviously convinced officials(and APD) to simply step aside. It was an interesting scene.Today's score:the kids:1,the authorities:0.Kinda made me smile.

Berlin, Exposition of Etruscan votive offerings in the James Simon Gallery: Bronze statue of a hunchbacked man sitting, 3rd century BC. found in Chiusi

This object, too, was added to the exposition from the inventory of the Antiquities Collection of the Berlin State Museums.

Was waren ihre Anliegen?

Exceptionally well-preserved bronze statues from a sanctuary in San Casciano, Italy, provide insight into healing rituals and religious practices during the transition from Etruscan to Roman culture. From July to November 2025, they were presented in an exclusive special exhibition at the James Simon Gallery. In the fall of 2022, excavations in San Casciano dei Bagni in Tuscany uncovered a large number of extremely well-preserved bronze statues in a water basin right next to a still-active thermal spring. It quickly became clear that this was a discovery of the century and an archaeological stroke of luck! Ancient bronze figures – especially in such large quantities – are extremely rare. The basin proved to be the center of an Etruscan-Roman sanctuary. Here, the sick sought healing through the thermal waters, and concerned parents sought divine protection for their children. The statues, as well as many smaller objects, were offerings made by visitors to the powers worshipped here. Due to ancient destruction and reconstruction, two distinct phases can be clearly distinguished in the more than 500 years of use. This is the first opportunity to study how a sanctuary functioned during the transition from Etruscan to Roman culture: Who were the deities? How did the local population interact with them? Which segments of the population visited the sanctuary? What were their concerns? Furthermore, it can be shown that many of the concerns are universally human and that the practice of consecration has a long-standing tradition. Even today, similar objects are donated to Catholic and Orthodox churches, albeit on a smaller scale and made of less valuable materials. After three stops in Italy, the bronzes were exhibited in Berlin for the first time outside Italy. Spectacular new finds from the excavation in the fall of 2024 were also on display for the first time, before all of them found their permanent home in the museum in San Casciano.

It's a day like every other day, you're there minding your businness, shopping, photographs, friends... when suddently it happens... A person approeaches, no matter if it's a man or a woman, it changes your life... In a bad way.

You feel oppressed, followed, forced to do what you usually don't. But there's something that keeps you from kickin' its butt off your life.

Maybe you love this person, in a friendly way, or more... Then you realize it was a sort of cancer, eating your energies and your freedom, so you decide to step on.

A good ol' "go to hell" and you're free again.

Danger: The story repeats itself. It's neverending.

More and more buggers are there, waiting for you...

Let's team against these people who doesn't seem to have anything else to do in their second life than harrassing other people unrelentingly.

Week 8, Saturday

I'd like to think that exploring my own photographic eye and starting to understand different individual and cultural elements behind it is most rewarding experience one can have with his own photography. It's also the reason why I felt I needed to depart from usual family&holidays photography and begin this journey into my own visual world. Having said that I believe that my own photographic eye isn't somewhere out there in hibernation just waiting to be found. I carry the individual and cultural seeds within me, but I also need to fertilize them to grow within me. In other words I need to take pictures and I need to recognize those pictures that speak to me at personal level (and get rid of others). Year of the Alpha represents this nourishing work, but as it is with plants it's the way we nourish them that will, to some extent, come to define how the plant will grow and look when it's all grown. Similar way I'd like to think that it's those first strokes that are most significant and come to define ones work later on. After those you have chosen something and therefore also defined your framework in which you will continue to work later on. With Year of the Alpha I've already plant my first seeds in lo-key photography, but there is still a lot to explore with other seasons later on. However, at this point I'm very happy that I've started this journey, because photography without ever exploring my own photographic eye would seem like a waste of potential diversity and beauty which we all have within us.
