A close up view of this flower shows what appear to be paint strokes of white and yellow. It looks like the work of an artist, but it’s just the handy work of nature. Proving once again that beauty is ubiquitous!
It's always fun to play with a little motion blur with fall foiliage. To do this, I used a tripod and set a shutter speed of 0.5sec. I moved the camera vertically while pressing the shutter button. This kind of gives the impression of brush strokes.
Dynamic streaks of colour flow diagonally across the canvas, creating an energetic visual effect. Splashes of various hues add depth and movement.
Giant brush strokes of grey across a winter sky. The end of a short day with the bare trees and a church silhouetted against the skyline.

UP 8733 leads an eastbound crude oil train on the former DRG&W Dotsero Cutoff, which came by surprise at the perfect time for a nice chase back towards home base.
Ok..so I posted this just to tell a story.
So The Strokes were to perform a free show for fans as part of SXSW festivies but little did they know that the band would have the park at "capacity" and well beyond. Now I've seen people jumping fences at ACL,SXSW and many other places. But at a free show?Really? And I guess people tearing down fences at more than one spot obviously convinced officials(and APD) to simply step aside. It was an interesting scene.Today's score:the kids:1,the authorities:0.Kinda made me smile.
Different strokes for different folks, everyone has their own outlook on life and liking the colours.

I'd like to think that exploring my own photographic eye and starting to understand different individual and cultural elements behind it is most rewarding experience one can have with his own photography. It's also the reason why I felt I needed to depart from usual family&holidays photography and begin this journey into my own visual world. Having said that I believe that my own photographic eye isn't somewhere out there in hibernation just waiting to be found. I carry the individual and cultural seeds within me, but I also need to fertilize them to grow within me. In other words I need to take pictures and I need to recognize those pictures that speak to me at personal level (and get rid of others). Year of the Alpha represents this nourishing work, but as it is with plants it's the way we nourish them that will, to some extent, come to define how the plant will grow and look when it's all grown. Similar way I'd like to think that it's those first strokes that are most significant and come to define ones work later on. After those you have chosen something and therefore also defined your framework in which you will continue to work later on. With Year of the Alpha I've already plant my first seeds in lo-key photography, but there is still a lot to explore with other seasons later on. However, at this point I'm very happy that I've started this journey, because photography without ever exploring my own photographic eye would seem like a waste of potential diversity and beauty which we all have within us.
