Sedge strings are a traditional craft in Vietnam, made by harvesting, splitting, drying, and dyeing long-stemmed sedge plants, which are then woven into mats, bags, and other products. The fibers are dyed with boiled dyes to create vibrant colors. The colored sedge strings are then woven into products, a process that can be done manually or with machines.
I'm looking through old pictures at the moment, since I've got very little time to take new ones this week. Thought this was a bit of a treasure on the bokeh front - especially since it's from the days when I didn't even know the term ;)

These strings of paper cranes were hanging off of the trees next to one of the walking paths at Thanksgiving Point. The handmade cranes were an interesting contrast to the flowers growing all around.
