Two of my favorite plants. String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii) and String of Pearls (Senecio Rowleyanus) growing in recycled soda bottle planters.
While I’m Ventura yesterday, we stopped in to Green Thumb Nursery and to my surprise, I found a variegated String of Hearts! I also grabbed a string of Turtles.
I meant to upload these yesterday since it was Rob's b.d. and he took these shots, of a plant from our daughter, at my request. I will have to ask her the name of the plant but I didn't know it flowered and then it did and I thought the flowers very lovely and unique :>) (Sorry for the cobweb)
I happened to be at the right place at the right time and snagged this beautiful SOH as they were unloading a new delivery of plants. I took it right off the cart.

They looked so beautiful hanging on this single slim branch of this Bleeding Heart Shrub. Once the heart shaped flowers open they tend to get heavier and the stems often bend, unlike this one that is still fairly straight.
The photo was used in a music presentation by 'The Women's Peninsula Chorus' in a piece of music written by Mark Winges called 'Heart Spells'; here is the link:
My String of Hearts is doing really well. There is so much new growth. Today we put the Christmas decorations away. That went way smoother than I had anticipated. We have to move 3 cars to open the attic. I already miss Christmas.

this plant was only about a foot long when I first bought it about a year and a half ago, now it's close to five feet. It has many huge tubers growing along the vines and gets such beautiful flowers in the summer. I keep this plant at my mother's house cause she has that sunny glass sliding doors and it loves it there. I had took it there to get overwintered a while back, but decided to not move it cause of it being so happy. I really think it's past due for a cut to do some propagating with those tubers, but I kinda wanna see how long it'll get lol.
Mom has a gorgeous one in her house that her crazy kitties are slowly destroying. She gave me a couple of the tubers in this little pot and we were not sure if it was going to take off or not. Sure enough! It's growing, if slowly. Hooray!
#stillgrowing ...
well, I lost 3 #houseplants in the #masterbathroom #shower/#bathtub, & 2 are struggling, not sure why, maybe the ants, or the black beetles, or something else. I need to get that plant app.
Otherwise, all the other 22 #plants (& 3 #airplants) are doing well & even thriving. My #prayerplant is #blooming, the #cactus & #spiderplant have babies.

I photographed this houseplant earlier this year. About two months ago, I transplanted it to a bigger pot, and suddenly it has burst into flower again!

I've experimented more in 2016 on this closeup setting and I really like the results:>) I uploaded 10 today just in case our nor'easter knocks the power out for some hours tomorrow morning --

I seem to have taken a sudden interest in photographing my houseplants recently. I neglect them terribly, but they keep growing despite me.
This one was left to me by the owners of my previous flat, in Bruntsfield (Edinburgh), as a housewarming gift. It's also known as a "rosary plant" because of its long wiry stems with leaves at regular intervals. The flowers are incredible, but it has only bloomed a few times since I've had it. I think I'll move it to the livingroom....
