I've been wanting to make a large string art piece (maybe 2 or 3 feet wide?) for the landing at the top of the stairs. I tracked down an old book and decided to try a small scale piece first. It was soooo much fun.

This was made with 4 strands of black and 4 strands of white nylon thread (#2)

By following the sequential order, one can make a Ladder Braid. Part One joins all eight threads together making the ladder's rung. Part Two becomes the sides of the ladder, making two smaller braids simultaneously. This braid was done with 4 ply yarn. Enjoy creating your on Ladder Braid with different colors and different types of materials.

Crochet #10 thread yellow and blue.

Crochet #10 thread yellow and blue. Threading this way (one color on one side, the other color on the other side) also gives you a swirl, but the swirl goes in the opposite direction.
