The holiday of Corpus Christi emptied the streets of this usually bustling street in Gdansk where Amber jewelry is sold. Gdansk is the capitol of Amber, one of the many reasons why it attracts crowds from Germany and Russia. Flattened in WWII and restored painstakingly to its pre-war beauty it is like stepping back in time to wander these streets.
At the end of October we spent 3-1/2 days visiting Istanbul, our first ever visit there.
This is rather steep street not far from the Grand Bazaar. Although there were vehicles on these streets, it was a common early-morning sight to see one or two men struggling up the street with loads of supplies for some shop or other.
