The inspiration was the American steam locomotive 4-6-2 2906, but I believe that you will see another steam engine in my model :)
Streamlined, Poema Utrecht, 28-05-2010. Sorry for the week delay before uploading the set(s). Maar het was een zwaar weekend zo, met 2 top-trance parties. Friday: 28/05: Streamlined, het laatste trancefeest in de Poema :( En zaterdag 29/05 mijn verjaardag om 00.00 uur in de Westerunie tijdens de Armada Night. Van dat feest 2 sets, 1 van gastfotograaf Paul en een van mij. Vanavond ook online hier. Het was weer fun, en een erg mooi weekend al met al. Jammer van de (te) lage opkomst bij Streamlined!

A streamlined Talgo 350 train in Seville’s Santa Justa railway station. This is part of the Alta Velocidad Española (AVE) service of high-speed rail in Spain, which operates at speeds of up to 310 km/h (193 mph). Alta Velocidad Española translates to ‘Spanish High Speed’, but the initials are also a play on the word ave, meaning ‘bird’. The Spanish AVE system is the longest HSR network in Europe.
All my big black boxy hi fi equipment didn't fit the aesthetics of the new flat so things have got a bit more minimal and CDs are permanently banished to storage ... although I did manage to camouflage two large speakers and a big old amp with some success! (see if you can spot them in the shot of the living room)

The streamlined era on the Rock Island lasted 43 years, beginning with the delivery of the first reborn Rockets in 1937 and ending well beyond Amtrak with a Notice of Embargo on Trains 5 and 6, and 11 and 12 effective January 1, 1979.
During the era, the Rock Island ran an extensive fleet of streamliners in many hues, coming from just about every major car and locomotive builder, and embraced a diverse array of rolling stock. The Rock Island presented the traveling public with many fine passenger trains, including the original 1937 Rockets, the streamlined 1948 Golden State and the seasonal, short-lived Arizona Limited.
This building used to be in Ovingdean but now Ovingdean is part of Brighton - anyway, it was a complete happy surprise to me! "Blind Veterans UK opened its flagship training, convalescent, care and holiday centre in Ovingdean, Brighton in 1938. The Brighton centre was one of the very first buildings in Britain purpose-built for those with a disability and every aspect of its construction was specially designed for blind and partially sighted visitors and residents. Shortly after its opening, the Architect and Building News praised the centre’s "magnificent views over the Downs and out to sea", as well as the thought that had gone into making the building ideal for the blind. The centre's residents included World War I veteran Henry Allingham, born 1896, who was briefly the oldest man in the world until his death in 2009." Wikipedia
