Recent shift to AMC enables streamlined logistics services

CAMP CASEY, SOUTH KOREA – The logisticians who look after Warrior Country’s transportation, maintenance and supply needs are now able to provide even more robust services thanks to a recent change that gives them broader, faster reach into the Army’s overall logistics network.
The U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I’s Directorate of Logistics ran the Central Issue Facility at Camp Hovey and the transportation motor pools that provide buses and vehicle maintenance in Warrior Country.
They did that as part of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, of which USAG Red Cloud and Area I is a part.
But, effective Oct. 1, all Army DOL assets shifted from IMCOM to the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMC is a global command that supports Army logistics worldwide.
The shift plugs in the DOL to AMC’s global logistics network.
And in Warrior Country, DOL is now part of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade Area I, said DOL director Dennis Williams.
For Warrior Country customers, that’ll mean that when one of the 403rd AFSB’s facilities in Warrior Country runs low on an item – helmets or vehicle parts – for example, they can be shipped from another facility that does have them, even one in, say, Japan, Williams said.
The transition will not pose any confusion or inconvenience for DOL customers, he said.
“For Area I it will be transparent,” he said. “The services we did yesterday are the same services that we’ll do today and tomorrow.”
The Area I DOL marked the shift to AMC with a low-key patch-and-pin ceremony Oct. 3 at Camp Casey’s Carey Fitness Center.
There, DOL’s Soldiers traded in their seven-sided IMCOM patch for the shield-shaped AMC patch, while civilians received an AMC lapel pin.
“On behalf of the Army Materiel Command I want to welcome you to the new AMC family,” Col. Michael Lopez, commander of the 403rd AFSB, said during the ceremony.
For the more than 300 DOL Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians and Korean civilians in Warrior Country, the 403rd AFSB is now their higher headquarters. But, they’re not alone. On Oct. 1, the 403rd also took command and control of all DOLs in Korea, Japan and Okinawa.
The changeover process was set in motion in March 2005 when the leadership of IMCOM and AMC decided to develop a logistics partnership to improve support to the Army and the Army’s transformation plan.

The other day Ralph took off on a wild run. When he came back his ears were totally plastered down inside out on his head. He must have been in the cool down phase.
The streamlined broad-gauge (5'3") 520 class 4-8-4 locomotives were introduced in the 1940's and were some of the last steam locos in service on the South Australian Railways. I traveled behind 520 on her inaugural run after restoration in 1972. Here she is departing Keswick Terminal on a Steamranger trip to Victor Harbour in 1987. These trips were a bit of a South Australian institution until conversion of the Main South Line to standard gauge put an end to them forever. You can see some dual gauge track in the foreground as by this time it was standard gauge to the north and broad gauge to the south...

Streamlined - Christmas Special. Tweede kerstdag, een mooie gelegenheid voor een mooi feest, zo aan het eind van 2009. En dat was Streamlined zeker. Een van de laatste en tegelijkertijd beste feestjes van het afgelopen jaar 2009! Met meesterlijke sets van Aly & Fila en mr. Streamlined himself: Leon Bolier. Heerlijke sets van hen beiden die avond, zonder de overige dj's te kort te doen overigens. Het klopte allemaal deze avond/nacht. Ik heb een topnacht beleefd tenminste :) En nagenieten kan ook nog eens een keer. Met de livesets van die avond (live broadcast van Afterhours.fm, thx. guys) en natuurlijk de geweldige yearmix 2009 van Leon! Bijna 4 uur intens (na)genieten! De mooiste tracks van 2009 komen nog een keer langs, meesterlijk gewoon! Thx. Leon! En allemaal de beste wensen voor 2010 natuurlijk. Ik hoop jullie snel weer te zien op een mooi feest!

The California Sea Lion (Zalophus californianus) is a coastal sea lion of the northern Pacific Ocean. Possessing of a streamlined body with a layer of blubber under the skin to provide warmth and buoyancy, males can nonetheless grow up to 600 pounds and 8 feet long. As a marine mammal, they are equally adept in water as they are on land. California Sea Lions feed on a wide-variety of seafood including fish, shellfish, and squid. They are highly sociable and gather in large numbers on beaches and coasts.
Their large eyes help them adjust to low levels of light in underwater environments, while their whiskers augment their sense of touch. Their nostrils automatically close once they hit the water. Their long front flippers rotate outward for better movement on land, and propel them forward in water. Males grow a large crest of bone on the top of their heads as they reach sexual maturity, and it is this that gives the animal its generic name (loph is "forehead" and za- is an emphatic; Zalophus californianus means "Californian big-head").

The Prospect Park Zoo, Brooklyn's only Zoo, is home to nearly 400 animals of more than 80 species. First established as a small menagerie in Prospect Park in the late 1800's, this collection of animals became the more formal Prospect Park Zoo on Flatbush Avenue that opened to the public on July 3, 1935. A Works Progress Administration (WPA) project, the Zoo was part of a massive city-wide park improvement program initiated and executed by former Parks Commissioner Robert Moses. Closed in 1988 for a five year, $37 million dollar renovation program, the zoo was completely replaced save for the exteriors of the 1930's-era buildings. Rededicated on October 5, 1993, it joined Wildlife Conservation Society's (WCS) world-renowned network of wildlife parks in New York City.
This building used to be in Ovingdean but now Ovingdean is part of Brighton - anyway, it was a complete happy surprise to me! "Blind Veterans UK opened its flagship training, convalescent, care and holiday centre in Ovingdean, Brighton in 1938. The Brighton centre was one of the very first buildings in Britain purpose-built for those with a disability and every aspect of its construction was specially designed for blind and partially sighted visitors and residents. Shortly after its opening, the Architect and Building News praised the centre’s "magnificent views over the Downs and out to sea", as well as the thought that had gone into making the building ideal for the blind. Streamlined, Poema Utrecht, 28-05-2010. Sorry for the week delay before uploading the set(s). Maar het was een zwaar weekend zo, met 2 top-trance parties. Friday: 28/05: Streamlined, het laatste trancefeest in de Poema :( En zaterdag 29/05 mijn verjaardag om 00.00 uur in de Westerunie tijdens de Armada Night. Van dat feest 2 sets, 1 van gastfotograaf Paul en een van mij. Vanavond ook online hier. Het was weer fun, en een erg mooi weekend al met al. Jammer van de (te) lage opkomst bij Streamlined!

Streamlined - Christmas Special. Tweede kerstdag, een mooie gelegenheid voor een mooi feest, zo aan het eind van 2009. En dat was Streamlined zeker. Een van de laatste en tegelijkertijd beste feestjes van het afgelopen jaar 2009! Met meesterlijke sets van Aly & Fila en mr. Streamlined himself: Leon Bolier. Heerlijke sets van hen beiden die avond, zonder de overige dj's te kort te doen overigens. Het klopte allemaal deze avond/nacht. Ik heb een topnacht beleefd tenminste :) En nagenieten kan ook nog eens een keer. Met de livesets van die avond (live broadcast van Afterhours.fm, thx. guys) en natuurlijk de geweldige yearmix 2009 van Leon! Bijna 4 uur intens (na)genieten! De mooiste tracks van 2009 komen nog een keer langs, meesterlijk gewoon! Thx. Leon! En allemaal de beste wensen voor 2010 natuurlijk. Ik hoop jullie snel weer te zien op een mooi feest!
