RGHS Y11 Geography trip to Buried Village

Mountains of North Carolina

A stream I found just off a hiking trail.

After reaching the peak, networks of streams can be discovered along the slopes of Mt. Mitake. The mountain is breathing with life as the spring season finally gives birth to sleeping trees, giving the mountain a natural green glow.

A beautiful stream with a nice sequence of waterfalls, flowing into Garreg Ddu rservoir, Elan Valley

In the bottom of the valley runs a trickling stream surrounded by a carpet of crisp, fallen leaves.

This company was established as an organics collector and processor, thus the name Organics Recycling Group, but as seen with these bins they have expanded a lot into general waste and recycling. Pretty well on point here with the correct bin colours for this day and age... maroon for food, blue for cardboard, red for garbage and yellow for bottles. I recall when this company started off with a couple of second hand side loaders to empty the organics 240Ls they had, and now they run multiple new rear loaders which get around the city area emptying groups of 1100Ls and collecting all the key waste streams – bit of a success story with ORG!

Embracing Buddhism, the Japanese use of stone lamps called Ishidoro, originally served to light temples and later marked the grounds of these shrine areas.

Another view of the Mill Pond Stream in Bracknell. This time looking at the bridge where I took the first shot from.

666 is a Leyland Atlantean AN68 new in 1978 with unique Northern Counties bodywork. The vehicle is a one-off, and featured many features which were light years ahead of its time back in '78, such as electronic destination displays, impact-absorbant front bumper, one-piece flat windscreen (with three wipers!) and an extremely angular front-end design. A strange vehicle, even by Nottingham's standards!

The vehicle is now preserved at the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, Ruddington.

This is really just one of the many random streams pouring off the mountains along the John Wayne Trail. I was kind of limited in what I could do with it because I had forgotten to throw a tripod in my backpack, but I think the resulting low-to-the-ground composition from having to just put the camera on the ground worked well.

I've been kind of MIA lately, courtesy of a never-ending move... I have one more "old" picture to upload, and then hopefully soon I'll get to finishing processing the pictures from vacation (which have now been sitting on my hard drive for a month!).

Tranquil stream at Merrivale Bridge

Criticism is very welcome.

European mini-trip, Day 5

Monet created his water garden by taking water from the nearby Epte (a tributary of the Seine) and diverting it into a pond. The pond is, in fact, surrounded by multiple small streams, creating many opportunities for bridges and bank side flowers.
