This was one of those loaves you take home and bake. But this is my own homemade strawberry jam. Yum!

“Jam Tomorrow and Jam Yesterday, but Never Jam Today” – from ‘Alice’s Adventures Through the Looking Glass’ by Lewis Carroll.
Luckily, we do not live in Looking Glass Land and are not subject to such nonsense as faced Alice in Lewis Carroll’s second Alice book. That is fortunate indeed for on a warm summer’s day, such as the one I took this photo on, it is a perfect day for tea and scones with fresh jam.
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" on the 3rd of February is "jam", which is wonderful theme for me, as I love jam, and have quite a selection of different flavours in my pantry, many of them home made (although not by me) like this rich strawberry jam. I decided that since we are going to take Devonshire tea on the terrace, the jam should be presented properly. So I have put it into a beautiful turn of the Twentieth Century German Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) silver preserve pot, which still has its original pink glass insert. I have inserted one of my English silver jam splays into the jam, so you can more easily spread the jam when the scones arrive. I hope you like my choice of image for the theme, and that it makes you smile!

I got some buns at the end of last week, and we had two each for tea today with some lovely strawberry jam. They only needed some clotted cream to make them almost perfect!
Maybe view large, but thank you for your favourites. :)
This was my attempt at a rustic farmhouse shelf recreated in the studio. All of these are what's present in our basement pantry, we made a huge effort to preserve a lot of produce this year. Growing up this was a common practice but isn't seen as much now. If you want to see more of my photography please stop by the Fulcrum Imaging website at www.fulcrumimaging.com. I had this silver jam jar lid engraved recently. My grandmother died when my mother was two and my grandfather died when my mother was eleven. She and her younger sister went into an orphanage. Occasionally the wife of the local vicar would invite a group of girls to have tea at the vicarage. My mother said that the vicar's wife would ask them. "What would you like for tea girls?"
And they would reply, "Strawberry jam please."

The French have a delightful word for a slice of bread and jam: tartine.
I keep the jam in a jar with this charming silver lid.

Wednesday... hand picked 2kg of Strawberries from my local farm
(during this very hot Summers afternoon Strawberry picking session, I probably consumed a further 1kg for which I was weighed after hahahahahahahaha)
Thursday... took 1.5kg of the freshly picked Strawberries, 2 pods of Vanilla and 500g of Jam Sugar plus one sachet of Pectin and boiled in my Jam Pan...
Friday... Added jam to my vintage style gingham lidded jam jars and topped with a further gingham overlay...
Saturday... baked two of my famous light buttery vanilla sponges. Once risen to perfection and golden in colour and cooled, I then added the home made jam, freshly whipped double cream, some sliced strawberries then ate in the Sunshine with a rather large Gin & Tonic....
Sunday... 5 mile run!!!!!.....
During this photographic shoot, my hubby bit the end of my slice of cake, which you can see is missing..... no husbands were hurt during this photographic shoot as penance for stealing the end of the slice of cake but he was not allowed a second slice :)))))))) ... hope you have had a great weekend with Sunshine and Strawberries... This is my very own homemade strawberry jam. I make batches of this every summer and freeze them to enjoy all year long. Strawberry jam is my favourite jam of all. It is also the most easiest to make (I also make raspberry jam and peach jam too). Summer can't get here soon enough to be able to get out there and pick our own strawberries to eat and make special treats with! Yummmy!
Thank you all for your views, comments and faves. HMM!
Weighing my Strawberries, preparing to make Homemade 'Wild Strawberry and Madagascan Vanilla Jam' and of course I must bake a batch of scones to compliment the jam ~ KissThePixel2019
Ahh, those late summer days — perfect for a traditional cream tea. Bring out the antique linen and blue and white china; add some freshly baked scones, home made strawberry jam and lashings of rich, indulgent clotted cream — delicious. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have some serious eating to get on with!

Scones with homemade strawberry jam and big dollop of Cornish clotted cream. Naughty but very nice.
Cornish clotted cream is a thick cream made by indirectly heating full-cream cow's milk using steam or a water bath and then leaving it in shallow pans to cool slowly. During this time, the cream content rises to the surface and forms clots. It's an essential part of a cream tea.

Tasty! I love strawberries, strawberry jam on toast... strawberry ice cream... (Processed in Lightroom 4 with Whipped Cream Lightroom Preset / King Pack), oh boy, now I'm hungry again! What fruits do you like to eat?
Not wanting to offend anyone out in this part of the world, I had to spread the cream and jam onto my scones the complete opposite way to how I normally do it. But in case you didn't know – it's the jam, then cream, in Cornwall! Doing it the other way is how you would do it in Devon.

Here I was thinking no more Cornish Clotted Cream until I visited Whole Foods Market yesterday and found English Clotted Cream. Almost as good as Cornish Clotted Cream.
Once it's jam it can't be strawberries anymore.

It was another lazy week for Sweet Sunday for me, I ended up baking the majority of Friday night for a farewell get together yesterday so when today rolled around I just didn't feel like thinking of something else to bake; plus it was a pretty busy day for me.
I had picked up this treat last night while out with Mom and thought it was interesting enough for Sweet Sunday. It was also delicious, so the next time I'm at Second Cup I may just have to grab another one of these.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.
