I bought it a few years ago from a sympathetic and talented craftsman in small French village. This was his last few months of activity before retirement and he was feeling a bit nostalgic, knowing that nobody would take over the shop and perpetuate the work he did for a lifetime.

Happy Macro Monday everyone.

Not sure if this is real leather or a very good imitation, but hopefully it'll do :) It's the end of the wrist strap on my Olly Pen-F.

I'm off out for the day and will try and catch up with everyone this evening ... tiz a Bank Holiday Monday here in the UK and I'm going to the Jack in the Green festivities in Hastings.

This was quite a morning up on the Quiraing on the Northern Tip of Skye. A pitch black pre-dawn march along the escarpment with all my kit, having had poor conditions up here the day before, I hoped for better luck. It didn't start out promising with rain and blustery showers as I left my solitary car on the Car Park in the dark.

Its quite a slog up this scree and pebble gully to get up above the needle. But once you are up here the views are tremendous and conditions improved and I got some great early morning light. I have already posted a colour shot from up here, but I think this Black and White conversion really shows the rugged features in this unique landscape.

I never saw another soul on this morning up here and took great care descending with all my kit securely strapped! Its not one for the feint hearted.

Here's my first attempt at building a rover for Febrovery.

I used a number of parts from the Lego Ocean Exploration Submarine and a LEGO dots strap that dictate the color combination.

The #MacroMondays theme is pareidolia for 1/13. This is probably the best and closest macro of the lot. We’ve decided he looks a bit like Groot!

Can greylag geese be white?

It can be white, completely gray (like the wild form), or somewhere in-between.

Are greylag geese native to UK?

There are two subspecies of Greylag Goose recognised: Western Greylag A. a. anser from Iceland, and north and central Europe; wintering from Scotland, south to northern Africa and east to Iran.

The greylag goose is a large, bulky, goose with a big head, and the largest of the grey goose species. It was one of the first species of animals to be domesticated in Ancient Egypt about 3000 years ago and is a typical farmyard goose. The domestic breed is known as A. a. domesticus and can interbreed with Anser anser. Many birds seen in the UK outside of the winter months are re-colonised from domestic populations and are often semi-tame. It is seen as a pest due to overgrazing of agricultural crops and is listed in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, meaning it can be killed or taken outside of the close season.
