Strangers In The Light

Well, it's not a Frank Sinatra title. This is a pedestrian tunnel, but it seemed to me like seeing aliens at the legendary Area 51.

Rough sea at the coast of Mosteiros on Sao Miguel, where people come to swim in the natural pools of crystalline water resulting from volcanic activity,

I'm really not supposed to talk to strangers...buuuut...

Meet Mark Gillespie. Mark, 39 and originally from Stockport in England, is probably the best street musician I have ever seen or heard. He originally came to Germany to record a CD, but the "got stuck" here. He has a regular stage band (he has supported Manfred Mann, Jethro Tull and Meatloaf), but he prefers to work the streets as a duo. If you see him anywhere in Germany, stop, listen and give him some money! Have a chat too, he's a very nice guy.

Check out one of his street performances here.

An amazing sunrise at Lake Chapman. Such stillness this early and I love how the sunlight sparkled off of the pavement

Meet Edgar. Edgar is 59 and an enthusiastic boules player. Every weekend he meets here at the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt with his fellow players Johann, Manfred, Annelise and Liselotte (weather permitting). Two of the group are from Darmstadt and the other three come from Otzberg. The Mathildenhöhe is a well-known meeting place for boules players from the area, and it is not unusual to meet up to 100 of them here. I like the motion blur, and the concentration in Edgar's eyes. It almost looks like he is defying gravity, the way the heavy steel ball is hanging in the air. My thanks to the other members of this little team for their patience, and I hope they will forgive me for not using all of their photos.

Meet Giancarlo. Giancarlo is Italian, and his passion is singing Verdi arias. He is accompanied by a piano soundtrack that he has in the black bag on his shoulder. Our conversation was made by way of scraps of paper - his German and English were almost non-existent, and my Italian is pretty poor. I think I understood that he just does this for pleasure, but he was really very good. His range of gestures, mimics and poses was fascinating, and there was a constant flow of coins into the hat at his feet.

Milan has changed quite a lot since I lived there up to a decade ago, and I was really impressed with the changes in the area of Stazione Garibaldi. While taking a walk around the new buildings I noticed a beautiful model doing the make up: I decided to keep on walking and avoided to disturb.

By the time I completed my tour, the make up session was over and I think models and crew were all waiting for somebody or something: everyone looking at their own phones, so I could not resist to such a beauty and asked the permission to take some pictures.

Meet Madine.

Madine agreed to be photographed and non of her colleagues complained: wow!

We moved a few meters away and I asked Madine to hold the reflector: I was totally captured by her incredible hair and thought that having the light coming from behind her would create some cool effect on her hair.

Thank you Madine for your time, hope you like the result.

The summer of 87' is in full swing.

A man walks out of the local Friendly's after some fried clam strips and a root beer float with a big happy smile across his face. Another fills his tank with 79 cent per gallon petrol and grabs a pack of Winstons for a buck nineteen.

The Chrysler product in the street was the standard police vehicle for the era. Coming from AMC's radio is the Las Lobos cover of "La Bamba" followed by The Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey",....on the same station. All this while a Boston & Maine bright blue EMD geep powers through New Hartford, NY ready to drop a lumber car by the station with New York, Susquehanna & Western train UT1.

A shot from 35 years ago and all these simple things roll through my mind as I look at it.

Ooh

Can anybody see the light?

Where the morn meets the dew

And the tide rises

Did you realise no one can see inside your view?

Did you realise for why this sight belongs to you?

Ooh

Just set aside your fears of life

With the sole desire

Done it warning, done it now

And it ain′t real on this side

Done it warning, done it now

And it ain't real on this side

Done it warning, done it now

And it ain′t real

Done it warning, done it now

'Cause this ain't real on this side

Ooh

Can anybody see the light?

Where the morn meets the dew

And the tide rises

Did you realise no one can see inside your view?

Did you realise for why this sight belongs to you?

I found a 2G SD card inside a used camera. There are hundreds pictures in the card. Here is the owner‘s selfie of the camera ( i think).

So, I edited the picture, the only best one in the card.

The pictures was taken in Sept 30, 2013.

Taken on a photowalk today in an effort to get me thinking creatively again.

I got a quick portrait of this stranger in Shrewsbury, England. He never did give me his name.

I’d been taking a portrait shot of this girls’s friend... I just turned the camera and pressed the button!

Luckily this young lady liked the shot and said it was fine with her however I chose to use it...

So here ya go:)
