This is my sketching stool. I got it for about $15 (costs like $19 now) from REI, and it's really really light, but very sturdy. I attached a camera-bag strap t it to carry it over my shoulder, it's a perfect and unobtrusive sketching companion. No longer must I sit on the dirty pavement. My only gripe is that I'm now quite high up and my paints are usually on the ground. But otherwise I love it.
If you're wondering, I wanted blue. They only had green in stock.
I’ve drawn this as an illustration to a new page on my site: Materials. Since I am so often asked what pens etc I use, I thought it would be nice to have a whole page showing what I use in my entire sketching experience, not just micron pens and cotman paints but my shoulder-bag and sketching stool. It’s not completely comprehensive however; I stopped short at revealing what I eat and what music I listen to while sketching.

Truck spings turned into stools !

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - These two industrial stools are a fun way to bring some hard-edged industrial chic into your apartment without sacrificing floor space. They can do double-duty as side tables until a party calls for extra seating. The stool on the left is adjustable.
The milking stool was made in the late 1800s by a farmer at Barabba S.A. Sometimes a farmer or his wife would milk two or three cows by hand twice a day just to have enough milk and cream to use for the family. Other properties may have milked many cows by hand so that they could separate the milk and have excess cream to sell as an income.
this stool uses two simple frames with wooden slats connecting them. the width of the slats increase as it flows around the frame.
as for the proportions it was expected that 'the screen' t.v and computer is something people are most exposed to as of now, and they'll receive with decent visual comfort. after the right ergonomics was worked out it one side was given a proportion of 9:16 and the other 3:4.
designed with: satyajeet kumar.
Wooden stool with notched edges and an apron on either side. Made around 1870 by Samuel Hersey (1820-1880), a founding member of the Tower Toy Guild, whose trade label is attached to the underside.

A rare primitive stool
Last Quarter, 19th century, Bohol
Balayong
50 x 54 x 54 cm (19 1/2 x 21 x 21 in)
It’s incredible that a humble stool made from precious balayong wood, with such delicate construction can tolerate heavy use and has remained in good condition. Found in Carcar, Cebu from the same owner as the chest of drawers with writing desk (offered as another lot), it is most likely the stool was brought by their ancestors during migration from Bohol where it was made.
The seat is etched with 12-point sunrays or flower with a twisted rope gadrooning along the round edges. Round tripod legs have rectangular banded knees with inscribed sunburst and tree motifs, and in which inside faces stretcher are tenoned through linked by a cylindrical finial at the center; this serves as reinforcement to the splayed legs that end in angled block feet. Highly coveted by serious collectors and indeed, a rare find.
Provenance: Collection of Mrs. Chinita Sato of Carcar, Cebu
Estimate: PHP 180,000 - 200,000

My final product for "Product Design 3" - a course at IPD, NTNU. The assignment was to make a stool with a height of 420 mm and a seat area of at least 250 x 250 mm. The stool was to be made from solid wood - either oak or ash.
@strobist: 2 studio strobes at grey seamless background, half power. gobo'd to not light the stool. 430EX in shoot through umbrella at stool, 1/4 power - roughly 3 feet away at camera right. Used simply ebay-triggers.
Shot at f/8 and ISO 200. The studio strobes were giving me problems with shooting at the 350Ds max sync speed of 1/200, so I dialed the shutter down to 1/160.
Effy needed a better step stool to get up to the sinks and counters so we made one. Had Effy sweating away in the sun helping her daddy sand.
We painted it with watercolors and sealed it with a beeswax wood polish that we made. She had a blast coating it with the beeswax polish....lots of squishing between the fingers, rubbing it all over her face and tasting it. Very little made it on the stool.
Probably 2 bucks in wood and 2 in the polish that will last for a years worth of wood projects.

I was walking along Bethnal Green rd when I saw this assortment of bangladeshi stools. This is not the only shop like this as the area has a high number of Bangladeshi people who live in the area so the shops look more and more like they are in Bangladesh.
this is a joint i made for the course "advanced mechanics and computer simulation" I attended @ AHO . It is modeled in SolidWorks, and (r)prototyped with laser sintering.
The joint is part of a stool that was supposed to hold 100Kg. Real-world testing of the strength of the stool.
I've loved this style of stool since I was a child. I couldn't believe my luck when I found this one at an antique mall recently.
Found this hidden away today, it was given to me when I was a little girl. It was made for my aunty probably over a 100 years ago by her husband, it survived the great floods in Kings Lynn many years ago! I use to do handstands with it! It is covered in paint speckles too, so was used by my dad to get to places he couldn't quite reach with his paint brush! It only has 3 legs now and can't quite believe that we don't have the leg that has fallen off! Anyway bought memories of my childhood flooding back when I found it!
