My final product for "Product Design 3" - a course at IPD, NTNU. The assignment was to make a stool with a height of 420 mm and a seat area of at least 250 x 250 mm. The stool was to be made from solid wood - either oak or ash.

@strobist: 2 studio strobes at grey seamless background, half power. gobo'd to not light the stool. 430EX in shoot through umbrella at stool, 1/4 power - roughly 3 feet away at camera right. Used simply ebay-triggers.

Shot at f/8 and ISO 200. The studio strobes were giving me problems with shooting at the 350Ds max sync speed of 1/200, so I dialed the shutter down to 1/160.

Effy needed a better step stool to get up to the sinks and counters so we made one. Had Effy sweating away in the sun helping her daddy sand.

We painted it with watercolors and sealed it with a beeswax wood polish that we made. She had a blast coating it with the beeswax polish....lots of squishing between the fingers, rubbing it all over her face and tasting it. Very little made it on the stool.

Probably 2 bucks in wood and 2 in the polish that will last for a years worth of wood projects.

I was walking along Bethnal Green rd when I saw this assortment of bangladeshi stools. This is not the only shop like this as the area has a high number of Bangladeshi people who live in the area so the shops look more and more like they are in Bangladesh.

this is a joint i made for the course "advanced mechanics and computer simulation" I attended @ AHO . It is modeled in SolidWorks, and (r)prototyped with laser sintering.

The joint is part of a stool that was supposed to hold 100Kg. Real-world testing of the strength of the stool.

I've loved this style of stool since I was a child. I couldn't believe my luck when I found this one at an antique mall recently.

Handmade hardwood peg-leg stool. Great for use in lounge area for coffee mugs, remotes etc.

Down Town, Los Angeles, California, USA

A strange red stool in Los Angeles down town... Unfortunately, nobody sit over...

---

Un étrange tabouret rouge dans une issue de secours d'un bâtiment dans le centre vielle de Los Angeles. Malheureusement personne était assis dessus pour la photo.

I took my son's dog for a walk and brought him back to my house - we're just sitting quietly😀

Here's the more-or-less completed step stool... made from recycled inch-and-a-half pine boards from the rails of an old waterbed I bought in the Eighties...

I was unable to find a plan that was entirely to my liking and/or could be easily used with the wood I had, so I came up with this simple design myself.

Since it's going to be painted, I elected to go with a very sophisticated screw-and-glue joinery technique (nyuk nyuk) and just fill the screw holes with wood filler. Waiting for the first application to dry at this point, then a final application of the filler, then sealer/primer coat, then plain white paint.

At some point Lynda will probably give it the tole-painting treatment, but plain white to start.

I tried to take a better pic, so you can see the cuteness of these stools.

Was exploring a semi-legal skate park and graffiti wall that's hidden away in Armley, and came across this sight.

Don't know why someone's dumped all these stools and chairs here, but might go back and acquire one. All a bit 60's ish in style.
