They mounted a large assault upon the sunny parts of the house during those last hot days of summer. Since the sudden cooldown they've been noticeably missing.

Stinkbug spotted way up in the top of the lilac.

This summer has been very humid with a good amount of rain. As a result, there are a heck of a lot of mosquitoes and other bugs. Today I found this stink bug on an echinacea bloom. Hopefully he won't cause too much damage or too much "stink". :)

Not sure they are stinkbugs; they look like they might be leaf-footed bugs or something similar. I have left just a little bit of the red of the sumac in the left corner for context.

As far as things to drive you completely buggy go, trying to ID shield bugs is proving difficult to beat. Mostly because their isn't that much variety in their shape, and the problem only becomes worse when you're trying to ID them from Nymphs. Brightly-colored stinkbug nymphs do the two-step in northern Louisiana.

Checked out some melon fields in SE Citrus County for reported large numbers of Swallow-tailed Kites. The Kites were there but also noticed the huge number of stink bugs on the melons.... all the melons were in very poor or rotted condition.
