"EW THERE'S A STINK BUG ON THE WINDOW, GET IT OFF"

mind you, the bug was outside of our window, which is like thick as fuck.

I wonder what they were thinking when I squatted down to take their picture.

It is a feature of houses in france that they have shutters. One is obliged by law to close them if you leave thehouse for more than a day or the home insurance is invalidated.

It also seems to be a feature of our house that the space behind the folded back (open) shutters is a preferred place for over wntering mini beasts. Hereare some. LOL

A Shield Bug. He went for a ride on our car, so it seemed only polite to take his photo afterwards.

I found one on my bag when we got home a few days after this. I got it to crawl onto my fingers, and got it out of the window. Not sure I'd have done that if I'd known they are also called 'Stink Bugs'.

Apparently, I didn't scare it.

My dad adds that this is a "hawthorn shieldbug final (or 5th) instar".

A strikingly colored bug, this Edessa rufomarginata stood its ground while being photographed. Photo taken near the village of Sabanita, outside Puerto Inirida, Guainia state, Colombia, on 18-Nov-2016.

Not very camouflaged in the still mostly brown woods!

Also known as a stink bug, famous for its defense tactics. This one in particular was an incredible subject who stayed still and let me practice my manual photography.

荔枝椿象若蟲

There were 5 of them in various instar stages on this Columbine. I killed them after I took this picture. They suck. Literally.

Matsui is using her laser-focus attention to chase a stinkbug that is stuck in the lamp of the floorlamp behind the couch. The lamp is way too high for her to reach, so the bug's only concern would be that looks could kill. No such luck for Matsui.
