A former Missouri Pacific B23-7 pulls Union Pacific's "Sandy Local" across the art deco style State Street bridge in Midvale, Utah the afternoon of Jan. 26, 1989.
The concrete and steel bridge was built in the 1930s as a "gauntlet", for both a Union Pacific main line and a Rio Grande branch line over-crossing the highway. It also included pedestrian subways on both sides of the street, parallel to the road.
She even got happy when I asked her if I can take her photo.

Cause I'm country strong
Hard to break
Like the ground I grew up on
You may fool me
And I'll fall
But I won’t stay down long
Cause I’m country strong....

Another beautiful scene from Skyland Meadows State Park in Virginia. I cannot wait to get a chance to get back out in some early morning light to shoot.

Osprey of the Jersey Shore | 2018
The 2017 Osprey Project in New Jersey:

Despite New Jersey being the most densely populated state, it holds tremendous diversity in preserved open space, especially our coastal salt marshes. The preservation of these wetland areas has played a huge role in the recovery of the osprey population in New Jersey. Today, they are home to the majority of ospreys (86%) who nest along the Atlantic Coast. Osprey nests define our coast and colonies are located along the entire coast from Sandy Hook to Cape May and west on the Delaware Bayshore up the Maurice River to Salem. This year a total of 668 active nests were recorded in New Jersey, with 75 of those being new nests from various regions of the state. This is well above the historic pre-DDT estimate of 500 nesting pairs and goes to show that ospreys and humans can coexist in New Jersey as long as we continue to protect wetland areas and conserve our natural resources, like forage fish, that ospreys need to thrive. The largest population gains in the state, from 2013 to 2017, were observed in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties, from 130 in 2013 to 207 in 2017.
The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the Sea Hawk, Fish Eagle or Fish Hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large Raptor, reaching more than 24 inches in length and a 71 inches wingspan. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and under parts, with a black eye patch and wings. In 1994, the osprey was declared the provincial bird of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Lake State Railway only serves Michigan but with a new agreement with CSX they're pooling power sets on Walbridge to Wixom "D" symbol trains now. The first one of these I've caught ran today with LSRC 6356 trailing a CSX GEVO on CSX D736-02. Here the train is rolling through Alexis and crossing the NS Detroit line on the north side of Toledo. The Lake State units do not have PTC so I suspect that they will normally trail only under this arrangement. 8/3/2021
It was a cool brisk morning, great to be out. Struggling yet again to find something to compose, I came across some interesting sand formations and rocks.

The conundrum of bees..... I have struggled to get good shots of bees. A fast shutter speed is almost always desirable but the corresponding shallow depth of field generally doesn't seem to work well for them. Worse, bees usually don't look good in direct sunlight, so I'm shooting in shadows making a fast shutter speed difficult. In addition, bees are always moving so focus can be a problem too. I rarely come away with a good shot.

Me: What do you think of the view up here?
Quinne: It's great but can we go?
Me: Why?
Quinne: Because the view isn't going to be so great if I'm in pieces.
Me: Trust me you aren't going anywhere.
Quinne: Ok...I guess I can stay for a few more minutes.
