Dr. Cicely E. Mitchell, Ph.D., the president and co-founder of the Art of Cool Project, a 501c(3) jazz presenting nonprofit organization located in Durham, North Carolina. The mission of the Art of Cool Project is to present, promote and preserve jazz-influenced music. The goal of the project is to expand the audience for jazz. Mitchell oversees the presentation of high quality live music concerts in unique venues throughout the Triangle. She spearheads the organization’s two major programs, the Art of Cool Festival and StArt of Cool.
Mitchell maintains a passion for promoting progressive jazz and alternative soul music to a wide audience. AOCFEST extends this passion throughout Durham and the Triangle region. In addition, she founded StArt of Cool in 2014 along with business partner, Al Strong. This jazz education pilot program provides education for students interested in learning more about the performance and fundamentals of jazz.
Mitchell received her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville, and her Master of Science in biostatistics degree and her doctorate in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her work with the Art of Cool Project, she is a senior statistician for Pharm-Olam International. She currently resides in downtown Durham, NC.

Florence Nightingale, OM, RRC (12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910) was a celebrated British social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. She came to prominence while serving as a nurse during the Crimean War, where she tended to wounded soldiers. She was known as "The Lady with the Lamp" after her habit of making rounds at night.
Early 21st century commentators have asserted Nightingale's achievements in the Crimean War had been exaggerated by the media at the time, to satisfy the public's need for a hero, but her later achievements remain widely accepted. In 1860, Nightingale laid the foundation of professional nursing with the establishment of her nursing school at St Thomas' Hospital in London. It was the first secular nursing school in the world, now part of King's College London. The Nightingale Pledge taken by new nurses was named in her honour, and the annual International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on her birthday. Her social reforms include improving healthcare for all sections of British society, improving healthcare and advocating for better hunger relief in India, helping to abolish laws regulating prostitution that were overly harsh to women, and expanding the acceptable forms of female participation in the workforce.
Nightingale was a prodigious and versatile writer. In her lifetime much of her published work was concerned with spreading medical knowledge. Some of her tracts were written in simple English so they could easily be understood by those with poor literary skills. She also helped popularise the graphical presentation of statistical data. Much of her writing, including her extensive work on religion and mysticism, has only been published posthumously.

The sense of feeling better than others who are still be plugged into the Matrix, or who haven’t had any profound awakening experiences; the lure of looking down on them is the most common trap many people fall into. This is especially the case when truth seeking is not combined with inner work. In the more extreme manifestation of superiority, we lash out on others, calling them names and attacking them personally for being “blind” and not aware (most often conducted via the internet/social media, hiding behind a screen).
The delusion of superiority is, in fact, a symptom of still being plugged into the Matrix, since the Matrix feeds off of Service to Self (STS) ego separation-consciousness (with its manifestation of “competition” in people’s personal and/or professional lives). We see this attitude play itself out most often in “truth seekers” who just “woke up” to the basics of the 3D matrix (the political illusion, government corruption and relating symptoms: the banking cartel, fake war on terror, lies of the mainstream media, false flag attacks, etc.) and lash out on people who are still asleep and hypnotized. In a sense, this is a normal stage as well. As the saying goes “The truth shall set you free, but first it will piss you off” (ironically enough, this was coined by CIA controlled opposition asset Gloria Steinham). So, anger is not to be judged as “bad” (spiritual bypassing), but we need to remain mindful to avoid projecting it outwardly.
This trap subject also ties into shadow projection. When we get emotionally riled up and project that reactive energy onto others – coming from sense of superiority – we actually feed the occult forces in the hyperdimensional realms. It stems from the “predator mind” by which these forces work through us, triggering mechanical/reactive behaviors to produce the “loosh” frequency they feed upon. There are varying degrees of superiority complexes, with various manifestations which we all can fall into (from subtle to very apparent). As long as we have an inner sense of superiority (especially the disease of moral superiority) or “specialness” in comparison to others – even without any external projections – the matrix has its hooks in us. This can also happen to “wanderers“, (individuals whose souls have incarnated from a higher density (4th or 6th density) into this 3rd density with a specific mission to accomplish in order to assist humanity), who are very identified with the wanderer (“starseed”) concept (seeing oneself as “better” than “humans”), and the ego feeds off of this divisionary mentality. This is also how negative forces target, hijack and derail wanderers from their mission – by appealing to the shadow aspect of their ego.
The trap of superiority is so common that it is almost a “natural” by-product of the awakening process. It can manifest itself at any given stage, even after having had a mystical awakening experience which the ego then hijacks. In other words, the ego believes itself to be awake, turning into a “spiritualized ego”. Many self-proclaimed masters/gurus (or even popular figures in the “truth movement”) have big superiority issues (cult of personality disorder) which their followers often feed with their “worship” and hierarchical-authoritarian programming, coming from a self-perceived inferior state of being, and thus putting another person on a pedestal.
More often than not, we have no control over when thoughts/feelings of superiority enter us. It can happen as a mechanical reflex response – as the sudden appearance of feelings of jealousy or anger. The key is self-observation, not trying to get rid of it (the axiom “what we resist persists” applies here), to say nothing of judging ourselves for thinking/feeling that way, which is very self-defeating. Avoid trying to push it away or acting on it; instead, we keep to working on ourselves, which helps to eventually detach our vibrational field from such thought intrusions; by not identifying with them positively (accepting) or negatively (judging ourselves/forceful resistance), we can slowly release them. Patience is key here.
A good thing to keep in mind that everyone reading this article was once fully “asleep”, caught up in the Matrix control mechanisms – none of us were born “awake”. We’ve all had our individual awakening moments, realizing that we have been believing in lies our entire lives, and that path to freedom is different for each of us. That’s where compassion and empathy come in, for both ourselves and others, even though blind/unconscious people who “dream to be awake” tend to support the matrix agenda, and hence unknowingly do a lot of “harm” despite their well-meaning intentions (for example: the belief in government, engaging in the political puppet show, which stems from a “Stockholm Syndrome” mechanism which is based on social conditioning, i.e. authoritarian programming, and hence feeding into the divide & conquer agenda).
It is important, though, to not fall into “blind compassion” or intellectualize compassion, which can result in a fake mask of “compassion” and pity for others, which, ironically, also stems from an unconscious sense of superiority. From a bigger picture perspective, it is also important to keep in mind that not everyone is here to awaken during this current cycle. There is nothing wrong with this truth, and there is no judgment…it is merely a function of the cosmic equilibrium.

Yesterday was my fourth time commuting on the MARC train. When I got to Union Station I saw that my train had been cancelled due to trees on the tracks. Quickly I scanned the crowd for familiar faces cursing myself for leaving my phone at work (which I have never done before.) I was lucky enough to get in with a group of people trying to get to Martinsburg, WV. The end of the Brunswick line. I suggested renting a car and the idea was embraced. With a herd mentality we trekked down the corridor of rental car kiosks where we were met with frowning faces and the words "no cars." We landed at the last stop, Alamo car rental, where the same two words were uttered. Crap.
I think we were all standing there formulating Plan B when the young woman behind the Alamo counter said "How many people do you have?" in a there-may-be-a-solution tone of voice. One of the members of our group, a man I can only describe as the cigarette smoking man from the X-Files, said, "why, do you have a van?" And indeed, she did. It was a pleasant ride home and I arrived only an hour after I normally would have. I met some new friends, some of whose names have escaped me but all of whose faces will stick with me for a long time.
I got home to find out my father-in-law and his wife were in a terrible car accident. I think they're going to be ok but send good thoughts.
Never a dull moment.
Today, the trains on my line are "suspended." I'm working from home.
Ethernet cables convey the finished stories by journalists about the just released reports about cotton ginnings, cranberries, and crop production while within this data secure room of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Agricultural Statics Board Lockup facility, in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Their stories are sent and the reports are made publicly available, at 12 noon. Before entering the Lockup facility, visitors are given a briefing on NASS history and processes, then given a chance to ask questions. Inside the facility, visitors and staff are required to remove and secure electronic communication devices before entering. The sense of feeling better than others who are still be plugged into the Matrix, or who haven’t had any profound awakening experiences; the lure of looking down on them is the most common trap many people fall into. This is especially the case when truth seeking is not combined with inner work. In the more extreme manifestation of superiority, we lash out on others, calling them names and attacking them personally for being “blind” and not aware (most often conducted via the internet/social media, hiding behind a screen).
The delusion of superiority is, in fact, a symptom of still being plugged into the Matrix, since the Matrix feeds off of Service to Self (STS) ego separation-consciousness (with its manifestation of “competition” in people’s personal and/or professional lives). We see this attitude play itself out most often in “truth seekers” who just “woke up” to the basics of the 3D matrix (the political illusion, government corruption and relating symptoms: the banking cartel, fake war on terror, lies of the mainstream media, false flag attacks, etc.) and lash out on people who are still asleep and hypnotized. In a sense, this is a normal stage as well. As the saying goes “The truth shall set you free, but first it will piss you off” (ironically enough, this was coined by CIA controlled opposition asset Gloria Steinham). So, anger is not to be judged as “bad” (spiritual bypassing), but we need to remain mindful to avoid projecting it outwardly.
This trap subject also ties into shadow projection. When we get emotionally riled up and project that reactive energy onto others – coming from sense of superiority – we actually feed the occult forces in the hyperdimensional realms. It stems from the “predator mind” by which these forces work through us, triggering mechanical/reactive behaviors to produce the “loosh” frequency they feed upon. There are varying degrees of superiority complexes, with various manifestations which we all can fall into (from subtle to very apparent). As long as we have an inner sense of superiority (especially the disease of moral superiority) or “specialness” in comparison to others – even without any external projections – the matrix has its hooks in us. This can also happen to “wanderers“, (individuals whose souls have incarnated from a higher density (4th or 6th density) into this 3rd density with a specific mission to accomplish in order to assist humanity), who are very identified with the wanderer (“starseed”) concept (seeing oneself as “better” than “humans”), and the ego feeds off of this divisionary mentality. This is also how negative forces target, hijack and derail wanderers from their mission – by appealing to the shadow aspect of their ego.
The trap of superiority is so common that it is almost a “natural” by-product of the awakening process. It can manifest itself at any given stage, even after having had a mystical awakening experience which the ego then hijacks. In other words, the ego believes itself to be awake, turning into a “spiritualized ego”. Many self-proclaimed masters/gurus (or even popular figures in the “truth movement”) have big superiority issues (cult of personality disorder) which their followers often feed with their “worship” and hierarchical-authoritarian programming, coming from a self-perceived inferior state of being, and thus putting another person on a pedestal.
More often than not, we have no control over when thoughts/feelings of superiority enter us. It can happen as a mechanical reflex response – as the sudden appearance of feelings of jealousy or anger. The key is self-observation, not trying to get rid of it (the axiom “what we resist persists” applies here), to say nothing of judging ourselves for thinking/feeling that way, which is very self-defeating. Avoid trying to push it away or acting on it; instead, we keep to working on ourselves, which helps to eventually detach our vibrational field from such thought intrusions; by not identifying with them positively (accepting) or negatively (judging ourselves/forceful resistance), we can slowly release them. Patience is key here.
A good thing to keep in mind that everyone reading this article was once fully “asleep”, caught up in the Matrix control mechanisms – none of us were born “awake”. We’ve all had our individual awakening moments, realizing that we have been believing in lies our entire lives, and that path to freedom is different for each of us. That’s where compassion and empathy come in, for both ourselves and others, even though blind/unconscious people who “dream to be awake” tend to support the matrix agenda, and hence unknowingly do a lot of “harm” despite their well-meaning intentions (for example: the belief in government, engaging in the political puppet show, which stems from a “Stockholm Syndrome” mechanism which is based on social conditioning, i.e. authoritarian programming, and hence feeding into the divide & conquer agenda).
It is important, though, to not fall into “blind compassion” or intellectualize compassion, which can result in a fake mask of “compassion” and pity for others, which, ironically, also stems from an unconscious sense of superiority. From a bigger picture perspective, it is also important to keep in mind that not everyone is here to awaken during this current cycle. There is nothing wrong with this truth, and there is no judgment…it is merely a function of the cosmic equilibrium.

Survivorship bias is the logical error of highlighting events that pass some selection process and overlooking those that did not, typically because of their lack of visibility. This can lead to false conclusions and is a form of selection bias.
During World War II, the statistician Abraham Wald took survivorship bias into his calculations when considering how to minimise bomber losses to enemy fire. The Statistical Research Group at Columbia University, which Wald was a part of, examined the damage done to aircraft that had returned from missions and recommended adding armour to the areas that showed the least damage. The bullet holes in the returning aircraft represented areas where a bomber could take damage and still fly well enough to return safely to base. Therefore, Wald proposed that the Navy reinforce areas where the returning aircraft were unscathed, inferring that planes hit in those areas were the ones most likely to be lost. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (Service) Habitat and Population Evaluation Teams (HAPET) recently completed analysis of the 25th year of Four-Square-Mile Survey data collected in the Prairie Pothole Region. Begun in 1987 by researchers at the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center, the Four-Square-Mile Survey was originally developed to assess waterfowl use of Service and private lands. The HAPET offices, which have conducted the survey since 1990, presently sample 704 survey plots annually. Each plot covers four square miles, which is the home range of a breeding female mallard. Waterfowl are surveyed on 5,933 wetlands, and water levels are assessed on 70,021 wetlands with a total area of 194,106 acres. Data from this survey are used to target easement acquisition, evaluate effects of conservation programs, inform Farm Bill programs, monitor landscape change, assess wetland dynamics, guide evaluation of the effects of wind energy development on waterfowl, and provide baseline data used in development of spatially explicit models for waterfowl and non-game birds. The Four-Square-Mile Survey and its products were models for the concept of Strategic Habitat Conservation, which was recently adopted by the Service.
One of the most recognizable products developed from Four-Square-Mile Survey data is the waterfowl breeding pair accessibility map, also known as the Thunderstorm Map. This decision-support tool provides a spatially-explicit, scientific foundation for targeting millions of conservation dollars annually by the Service and partners for easement acquisition, Partners for Fish and Wildlife private land projects, and other conservation actions for breeding waterfowl.
Another major benefit provided by the Four-Square-Mile Survey is the HAPET offices’ extensive records of annual water conditions for 70,000 wetlands, which include the second driest drought of the 20th century and the wettest period in the past 130, possibly 500, years. These data are being incorporated into a variety of projects related to climate change in the Prairie Pothole Region, including determination of mechanisms influencing wetland water levels, improvement of wetland monitoring programs, and modeling of response to climate change by wetland-dependent birds.

So, anger is not to be judged as “bad” (spiritual bypassing), but we need to remain mindful to avoid projecting it outwardly.
This trap subject also ties into shadow projection. When we get emotionally riled up and project that reactive energy onto others – coming from sense of superiority – we actually feed the occult forces in the hyperdimensional realms. It stems from the “predator mind” by which these forces work through us, triggering mechanical/reactive behaviors to produce the “loosh” frequency they feed upon. There are varying degrees of superiority complexes, with various manifestations which we all can fall into (from subtle to very apparent). As long as we have an inner sense of superiority (especially the disease of moral superiority) or “specialness” in comparison to others – even without any external projections – the matrix has its hooks in us. This can also happen to “wanderers“, (individuals whose souls have incarnated from a higher density (4th or 6th density) into this 3rd density with a specific mission to accomplish in order to assist humanity), who are very identified with the wanderer (“starseed”) concept (seeing oneself as “better” than “humans”), and the ego feeds off of this divisionary mentality. This is also how negative forces target, hijack and derail wanderers from their mission – by appealing to the shadow aspect of their ego.
The trap of superiority is so common that it is almost a “natural” by-product of the awakening process. It can manifest itself at any given stage, even after having had a mystical awakening experience which the ego then hijacks. In other words, the ego believes itself to be awake, turning into a “spiritualized ego”. Many self-proclaimed masters/gurus (or even popular figures in the “truth movement”) have big superiority issues (cult of personality disorder) which their followers often feed with their “worship” and hierarchical-authoritarian programming, coming from a self-perceived inferior state of being, and thus putting another person on a pedestal.
More often than not, we have no control over when thoughts/feelings of superiority enter us. It can happen as a mechanical reflex response – as the sudden appearance of feelings of jealousy or anger. The key is self-observation, not trying to get rid of it (the axiom “what we resist persists” applies here), to say nothing of judging ourselves for thinking/feeling that way, which is very self-defeating. Avoid trying to push it away or acting on it; instead, we keep to working on ourselves, which helps to eventually detach our vibrational field from such thought intrusions; by not identifying with them positively (accepting) or negatively (judging ourselves/forceful resistance), we can slowly release them. Patience is key here.
A good thing to keep in mind that everyone reading this article was once fully “asleep”, caught up in the Matrix control mechanisms – none of us were born “awake”. We’ve all had our individual awakening moments, realizing that we have been believing in lies our entire lives, and that path to freedom is different for each of us. That’s where compassion and empathy come in, for both ourselves and others, even though blind/unconscious people who “dream to be awake” tend to support the matrix agenda, and hence unknowingly do a lot of “harm” despite their well-meaning intentions (for example: the belief in government, engaging in the political puppet show, which stems from a “Stockholm Syndrome” mechanism which is based on social conditioning, i.e. authoritarian programming, and hence feeding into the divide & conquer agenda).
It is important, though, to not fall into “blind compassion” or intellectualize compassion, which can result in a fake mask of “compassion” and pity for others, which, ironically, also stems from an unconscious sense of superiority. From a bigger picture perspective, it is also important to keep in mind that not everyone is here to awaken during this current cycle. There is nothing wrong with this truth, and there is no judgment…it is merely a function of the cosmic equilibrium.

Brewery Capacity Quotient (BCQ)
I'm no statistician, but to compare per capita brewery count with per capita production over different years (comparing apples and oranges), I've created the BREWERY CAPACITY QUOTIENT (BCQ).
BCQ = [ (# of breweries * barrels per 100k population) / 1028.619] * 100
For any given year, the product of the total number of breweries multiplied by the number of barrels produced nationally per every 100,000 citizens is divided by 1,028.619 and that result multiplied by 100.
I use the number 1,028.619 as the constant in the denominator because it's the product of the number of breweries in 1873 multiplied by the barrel production per 100,00 population that year. I chose 1873 as the baseline because, until 2015, that was the year that comprised the most breweries in the nation, but for a much smaller population, and thus indicating an evident capacity.

So,
In 1873:
There were 4,131 breweries in the U.S. for a nationwide population of 38,555,983. That would be the historically high count of breweries (until 2015). Per 100,000 citizens, there were 10.74 breweries that year. In total, those breweries produced 9,633,323 barrels of beer: 0.249 barrels (7.74 gallons) of beer per person.
▶ BCQ = 100
In 1980:
There were 44 breweries for a population of 226,545,805, a post-Revolutionary War nadir, equal to .194 breweries per 100,000 citizens. In total, these few breweries produced 188,373,657 barrels of beer: 0.8315 barrels (2015 gallons) of beer per person.
▶ BCQ = 3.5
In 2015:
There were 4,144 breweries in a population of 320,090,857, the most breweries ever in the nation. That was 1.29 breweries for every 100,000 citizens. In total, these breweries produced 174,721,000 barrels of beer (13.65 million fewer barrels than in 1980). Per capita, that was 0.545 barrels (16.92 gallons) of beer per person.

31205 & 31208 on the 1Z26 Plymouth to Linby special on Saturday the 11th of February 1984. The train is emerging from Shirebrook to Langwith cutting at the Langwith end. The concrete structure on the left is the remains of Shirebrook Junctions Up Distant signal’s “Fogging Hut”. No other trains were booked to run on this day so I ventured into the cutting for my one and only shot from this location. The bridge that the train is passing under is the one I stood on to take several of my photos.
