Pre sunrise along the Susquehanna River in Maryland. Took the camera vertical for this composition to include a focus on the rocks there in the riverbed.
The beautiful Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park in West Virginia. I was really hoping for a wintry scene. It was snowing heavily as I drove along I 64, but as I approached the state park the skies cleared.

After a mostly cloudy day, the sun obliges at an opportune moment as Adrian & Blissfield's local to the CSX yard at Lansing, Michigan returns south at Holt. Shoving on the rear is ADBF GP9 1751, originally built as GTW 4545. Following this train ended up being an all-day affair, as the crew also had work at steel and aluminum processor RSDC, another half-mile south of this location.
Our weather for shooting has been really good this fall. I think fall and spring have the best skies.

Actually, I took my new rolling blind out looking for elk in their fall rut. I got a little side-tracked here on the Northern California coast. I spent some time at this spot working on splashes. This one kinda reminds me what happens if you drop a full cardboard carton of milk there in the foreground. Check it Large.
I went down to the city yesterday to check out the new Metro Stations. After spending a huge amount of money the 5 stations are now open with the trains running on a 10am - 5pm timetable while they ease the new stops into the timetable. The stations are large, orange decorated and clean. The platforms use automatic doors and floor to ceiling screens to stop customers from jumping onto the tracks as well as reducing the wind draft into the station (more energy efficient!). At the moment the helpful Metro staff are rostered on to help customers navigate the new system and linkages to the old Metro stations Flinders Street and Melbourne Central.
While the platforms have these orange trims, the entrances to the stations are of differing colours and structures.

After working the Presto Spur, the Cache Valley Local is back on the move, passing the Utah/Idaho State Line, 42.69 miles from Cache Junction, Utah. The end of track in Preston, Idaho is eight miles away. Heck yeah!
CSX I016 rolls through the field of State Line, PA spiriting the freshly released B&O Heritage unit as solo power up front.
She even got happy when I asked her if I can take her photo.
The guy at behind? You can find him every single day of the year at the same spot giving his speech.
Lake State's Wixom Turn, running as Y110-21, rolls past Pere Marquette-era CTC at the north end of Clyde with a pair of matching former SD40s in the lead.
In 1928 the Loew's State Theatre opened on Weybosset Street in downtown Providence as an opulently elegant movie house. Over the years its offerings, and its name, changed with the times, going from movies, to concerts of classical music and for a long time a well-known rock-n-roll venue. Saved from the wrecking ball around 1978 and extensively renovated since, the Providence Performing Arts Center today hosts large Broadway productions as well as orchestra performances in its once again majestically opulent surroundings. The theater's Richmond Street entrance still announces the interior grandeur inside. Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
Providencia, Rhode Island, Estados Unidos.

The name Manhattan derives from the word Manna-hata, as written in the 1609 logbook of Robert Juet, an officer on Henry Hudson's yacht Halve Maen (Half Moon). A 1610 map depicts the name as Manna-hata, twice, on both the west and east sides of the Mauritius River (later named the Hudson River). The word "Manhattan" has been translated as "island of many hills" from the Lenape language.
New York County is one of seven counties in the United States to share the same name as the state in which they are located. The others are Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Utah counties.
The United States Postal Service prefers that mail addressed to Manhattan use "New York, NY" rather than "Manhattan, NY"

A former Missouri Pacific B23-7 pulls Union Pacific's "Sandy Local" across the art deco style State Street bridge in Midvale, Utah the afternoon of Jan. 26, 1989.
The concrete and steel bridge was built in the 1930s as a "gauntlet", for both a Union Pacific main line and a Rio Grande branch line over-crossing the highway. It also included pedestrian subways on both sides of the street, parallel to the road.

Lake State Railway only serves Michigan but with a new agreement with CSX they're pooling power sets on Walbridge to Wixom "D" symbol trains now. The first one of these I've caught ran today with LSRC 6356 trailing a CSX GEVO on CSX D736-02. Here the train is rolling through Alexis and crossing the NS Detroit line on the north side of Toledo. The Lake State units do not have PTC so I suspect that they will normally trail only under this arrangement. 8/3/2021
