Tecoma stans est une espèce d'arbuste tropical de la famille des Bignoniaceae, interdite de culture en Nouvelle-Calédonie.

L'espèce est considérée comme invasive en Afrique du Sud, en Amérique du Sud, en Asie, en Australie et dans les îles du Pacifique. Originaire du Mexique et des Etats-Unis, elle a été volontairement introduite dans de nombreuses parties du monde pour ses qualités horticoles. Elle présente désormais un danger important pour la biodiversité en entrant en concurrence avec les espèces locales.

Elle représente une telle menace en Nouvelle-Calédonie (la région de Boulouparis est particulièrement infestée), où elle aurait été introduite en 1904, que le Code de l'environnement de la Province Sud interdit son introduction dans la nature, sa production, son transport, son utilisation, son colportage, sa cession, sa mise en vente, sa vente ou son achat.

Stan is probably one of Eminem’s best know songs. It is about a fan’s descent into a dangerous obsession through his letters to his rapper hero. It starts off fairly harmless but as his mental health spirals, the letters become more aggressive and the story ends in violence and tragedy. I suppose many of you can relate to that poster on the wall of your favourite musician as a teenager and how it bought comfort when you needed an escape from the real world (top bunk, Peter Frampton on the ceiling above my bed).

Stan is now an official word in the Oxford English Dictionary. The dictionary entry says a stan is "an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity".

During the week we had a conversation about rap music, where I said that it is easy write it off that whole genre of music and she said-that’s O.K. That means the music wasn’t meant for them.

At the Eminem concert, there were quite a few signs saying “You saved my Life”. I guess it doesn’t matter what the music is that gets you through, as long as you find it then it will be meant for you.

I have fussed and fretted over the image and still not 100% sure but here it is nonetheless.

Good Saturday morning everyone, and hope a good one is had by everyone. On my continued walk through the wetlands lat evening I came across about 15-17 of this species, and one by one they started to take off and gave me some decent chances to do some photography of them which is always welcome, so there may be more down the road. As always thank you for the visits.
