These volunteers had worked at an intersection where a driver became agitated, tried to drive into the course, and was arrested by police. That's a *very* unusual occurrence and the first time it's happened in the two years of the Tour so far.
Yikes!
At Stage 5 in the Pecan Grove - officially an unofficial stage of the Walnut Valley Festival, but a place to hear some great pickin'.
Prairie Acre, based out of Lawrence, Kansas, is the band shown. Unfortunately, they no longer play together as a group.

Terra Cognita - Autopoietic Observatory
The Autopoietic Observatory establishes an urban framework as mnemonic landscape to facilitate the production and storage of collective memory. This narrative topography performs as a democratic theatre and constructing the symbolic arena through which a society can trace narratives of continuity between the past and the present. The mnemonic landscape redefines collective memory as continuous public topography.
Lawrence thought this would be a good shot for our Flickr album and very kindly set about making the sign fully visible for me to shoot.
After exploring Schmilka we took the ferry (very crowded, we hadn't realised it was a holiday weekend) and then walked back to Krippen along the river path/cycle way.
Some of the others decided to wait for the ferry that took them downstream, but when it arrived it wouldn't take them, so they also crossed by this ferry but then caught the train. So far, so good. Then the conductor would not let them off at Krippen (reason unknown) and they had to get off at next station and then catch another train back. So whilst we got hot and bothered on cycle path and had a failed attempt to fine a kleine Bastei, we probably had the better deal.

The final design thesis project is concerned with the dialectic between the individual object and the collective subject, that is the relationship between a singular piece of architecture and the city as a whole. His thesis is an investigation of an architecture that considers the latent potential to integrate and contribute to the civic dimension of the city. The clarity of the city, its streets, blocks, public spaces and institutional forms, become the material for architectural production. Typology and morphology become the tools through which the architecture is designed. The Thesis proposal is situated in Zurich and seeks to resurrect the fragments of the city’s lost silk industry, and speculates toward the contemporary continuity of the industry’s Legacy within the city. The project exploits silk production and research as a programmatic vehicle for an institution that engages with the legibility of Zurich’s urban structure, positioning the Architecture of science as the new heart of civic representation within the City of Zurich.

The Urban Impluvium
An investigation into public space as the context for sustainable water generation, treatment and celebration in response to water becoming an increasingly scarce resource as a result of a changing environmental and social climate.
By using the architecture themes of transparency, permeability and cohesion the proposal aims to create a sustainable public resource which responds to existing hydrological needs of the community of Madrid. The proposal’s use of the passive water collection principles of the compluvium and impluvium in conjunction with atmospheric water generation creates a design which not only collects water and cools the surrounding environment but acts a social collector by providing a permeable and cohesive public oasis within the city where water can be enjoyed and it’s management and treatment made fully visible.
