Have a great weekend

Dramatic cloud formations and lake reflections, after a rainy day, here on Bluebird Estates

This creative stone structure caught my eye while on a recent walk along the Spirit Trail. Rather difficult to get down low enough to get this framed view of the Vancouver skyline.

Big Rock (also known as either Okotoks Erratic or, by the Blackfoot, as Okotok) likely served as a prominent landmark for Indigenous people.

The Okotoks Erratic is a 16,500-tonne (18,200-ton) boulder that lies on the otherwise flat, relatively featureless, surface of the Canadian Prairies in Alberta [An erratic is a rock or boulder that differs from the surrounding rock and is believed to have been brought from a distance by glacial action].

This massive angular boulder, which is broken into two main pieces, measures about 41 by 18 metres and is 9 m high. It consists of thick-bedded, micaceous, feldspathic quartzite that is light grey, pink, to purplish. Besides having been extensively fractured by frost action, it is unweathered. [...]. Wikipedia

From my recent travel archives

This series focuses on the spectacular "sculptures" formed when flowing water [from melting snow and or rain] freezes on the sides of the mountains lining the Sea to Sky Highway.

Located about a 55-minute drive from Vancouver, Stawamus Chief is a giant piece of rock that’s great for hiking and overlooks the town of Squamish. [...].

Squamish is a 64-km (or 40-mile) drive from Vancouver about halfway up the beautiful Sea to Sky Highway on the way to Whistler. The mountain itself is just past Shannon Falls and the Sea to Sky Gondola, and just before the town. vancouversbestplaces.com/sea-to-sky-region/squamish/stawa....

My favourite view in Jasper National Park😊

False Creek (French: Faux ruisseau) is a short inlet in the heart of Vancouver. It separates downtown from the rest of the city. It was named by George Henry Richards during his Hydrographic survey of 1856-63. While traveling along the south side of the Burrard Inlet, he thought he was traversing a creek; upon discovering his error, he gave the waterway its modern name.[False Creek].

Science World is a science centre [...] located at the eastern end of False Creek and features many permanent interactive exhibits and displays, as well as areas with varying topics throughout the years.] In 1986 it was the location of the Expo 86 World's Fair.

False Creek South is a neighbourhood that runs along the inlet starting under the Granville bridge and runs until under the Cambie bridge to the east Southeast False Creek (Olympic Village) starts from Cambie to main street. summarized from Wikipedia

I would like to thank my Flickr contact and car enthusiast, Le Photiste, for his awesome ID of this classic car! Much appreciated.

She also has modified tail lights and the fuel flap (normally just above the chrome trim on the rear fender) is neatly concealed :-)"

All of these local photos, except for the "pink" snowy mountain which was taken a week ago, were all taken today. Here on the North Shore, one can ski and sail or go golfing etc. on the same day.

The Lions are a pair of pointed peaks along the North Shore

Mountains in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada [these twin summits have become one of the most recognizable Vancouver landmarks]. They can be seen from much of the Greater Vancouver area, as far as Robert Burnaby Park in East Burnaby, south to parts of Surrey, and from the west on the Howe Sound Islands and the Sunshine Coast. Bow Lake is a small [glacial] lake in western Alberta, Canada. It is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies, at an altitude of 1920 m.

The lake lies south of the Bow Summitt, east of the Waputik Range (views including Wapta Icefield, Bow Glacier, Bow Peak, Mount Thompson, Crowfoot Glacier and Crowfoot Mountain) and west of the Dolomite Pass, Dolomite Peak and Cirque Peak.

Bow Lake is one of the lakes that line the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, other such lakes being Hector Lake, Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Mistaya Lake, Waterfowl Lakes, Chephren Lake and Sunwapta Lake.[1]

Historical Simspon's Num-Ti-Jah Lodge is located on the shores of Bow Lake {Click image to see the red lodge to the far right].

Bow Lake is the closest lake to the headwaters of Bow River, and has a total area of 3.21 km². Water in the lake is meltwater of the Bow Glacier. Wikipedia

Deep Cove, or 'The Cove' as it is referred to by residents, faces due east and is located at the foot of Mount Seymour. Popular amongst outdoor enthusiasts, this area is close to forests, mountains, skiing, parks and the water. Approximately 5 minute drive to the charming Village of Deep Cove where you will find boutique shopping, dining, Deep Cove Little Theatre and musical performances. Rent kayaks, canoes or paddle boards at the park/beach, or hike one of the many trails close by. Deep Cove is approximately 15-20 minutes drive to Downtown Vancouver, and approximately 15 minutes drive to West Vancouver. Transit nearby.
