One of the challenges I like most about my attempts at woodturning is when I find a really gnarly, nasty piece like this cut from an ornamental cherry tree that died in our garden, planted before we moved here and long dead, it was not big, it was full of holes, it was irregular, perfect for my level of work, also known as "rough as ...." LOL
I had no idea what I could get from it, I had ideas but as often happens the wood took over and led me to this simple single flower vase. Life is full of surprises. No living plant was harmed in the making of this vase.
