Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro is not an easy lens. The shallow DoF on this lens makes it hard to frame shots. At this time I am not sure if I have received a soft lens.

I could have added many more remotes but thought this was adequate. We've amassed a lot of these over the years.
Most common material cut in a US hackerspace is 3mm thick. 1/8" acrylic is nominally .118", or 3mm. Same for Baltic Birch.
Therefore, one can stack 5 pieces together to form a solid shape that will stack evenly against an OpenBeam 1515 extrusion. In this example, we formed a shoulder stock for a DSLR video rig this way. This shoulder stock can also telescopic forward and backwards on the rail for fine adjustment.

A stack at an old factory near the Ford plant.
I biked by here earlier this week during the day, and thought the factory was abandoned. All the lights were on at night though... wonder who's paying the electricity bill?

A test using Helicon Focus using the default DMap settings with 17 shots @ f8 just to keep the entire lens in focus. Compared to single shot @ f32.
One might think that the focus stacking doesn't present much of an advantage. If you look closely, the single shot suffers from CA (see the detail of the "Z 40mm 1:2..." text) due to the effects of diffraction. Make no mistake, the 105Z is a fabulous lens but it cannot escape physics.
