Stack of Rocks (cairns) at Lutsen on Lake Superior

Amtrak P42DC #94 trails on a late Coast Starlight #11 as it arrives in Martinez.

the sounds you are about to hear can be devastating to your ear.

Former Adirondack Power and Light plant at Amsterdam, NY on the Erie Canal just upstream of lock E10. The canal follows the Mohawk River here.

As a teen, I traveled the Erie Canal and was fascinated by this plant as we passed on the boat. That was in the late 70's and it was not in use then ether. The 1923 edition of Babcock & Wilcox "Steam, Its Generation and Use" shows an earlier version of the plant consisting of 2 stacks and ending at the third window from the water intake house.

Photographed using a NIkon f with a Nikkor 80-400 VR lens (no, the VR does not work on the F :) Exposure by sunny 16.

Hubster took a day off yesterday and we moved quite a few bits up and down stairs....so, this is my stacked storage system...WIP in the new home office

The sideboard will eventually be painted duck egg blue topped with white then sanded back and lined in red b lue and aqua.....a

very far off project so much to do before then!

I'm sure you've all seen the really cool rock-stacking-kids... Well, I'm not quite there yet... But I can dream!

Another stacked lens shot, IIRC with a 50mm prime reversed in front of a telephoto zoom.

Lighting was via an off camera TTL flash at arms length.

DOF at this magnification is extremely short, brobably less than a millimeter. Not having the camera perfectly paralell to the coin gas been enough to throw the top left & bottom right well out of focus

stacked 3 frames of 30 second exposure to produce this image of multiple meteors

Un macro de campo de una araña que se porto muy bien y no se movio durante la pila. 41 disparos a ISO 400 con el Summar 120mm; tomada a 1.2X tiene un pequeño recorte al rededor de 1.5X

A field stack of a very nice spider that was kind enogh to remain still for a couple of stacks. 41 shots at ISO 400 with summar 120mm; taken at 1.2X nbut has a small crop so around 1.5X

Stacked from 3 exposures on a live subject. One of the few cooperative dragonflies I came across today, most of the others wouldn't let me get within 5 feet. This one didn't seem to mind me laying inches from him snapping photo after photo...

South Stack is famous as the location of one of Wales' most spectacular lighthouses, South Stack Lighthouse. It has a height of 41 metres (135 feet). It has a maximum area of 7 acres.

Until 1828 when an iron suspension bridge was built, the only means of crossing the deep water channel on to the island was in a basket which was suspended on a hemp cable. The suspension bridge was replaced in 1964, but by 1983 the bridge had to be closed to the public, due to safety reasons. A new aluminium bridge was built and the lighthouse was reopened for public visits in 1997. Thousands of people flock to the lighthouse every year, thanks to the continued public transport service from Holyhead's town centre.

There are over 400 stone steps down to the footbridge (and not, as local legend suggests, 365), and the descent and ascent provide an opportunity to see some of the 4,000 nesting birds that line the cliffs during the breeding season. The cliffs are part of the RSPB South Stack Cliffs bird reserve, based at Elin's Tower.

The Anglesey Coastal Path passes South Stack, as does the Cybi Circular Walk. The latter has long and short variants; the short walk is 4 miles long and takes around two hours to complete. Travelling from the Breakwater Country Park, other sites along the way are the North Stack Fog Signal station, Caer y Tŵr, Holyhead Mountain and Tŷ Mawr Hut Circles.

Stacked rocks atop Pei Ecksar in Rancho Bernardo, California.

Taken with my 1971 Minox "C" and Minopan 25 film.

it's beautiful chaos here.

the in-laws bought a new trailer so there have been dirt and cement trucks going through our yard for the last week.

it's almost more than my boys can handle.

Lacking in inspiration today. I needed a portrait photograph of a stack of magazines for a class assignment....so....yeah.

Stacking Chairs offer a versatile seating solution where removable and portable seating is required. They are ideal for use on the flat floor area of lecture theatres or similarly in concert halls or theatres.

Screenshot from an interactive applet that visualises around 27000 series from the collection of the National Archives of Australia. The graph is a kind of stacked histogram; each series is represented as a horizontal line correpsonding to its date span. Series are sorted according to span, then stacked into a pile. Colour is also derived from year span - blue=long, red=short. The interactive simply highlights series whose span includes any given year. Blogged here.

Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro is not an easy lens. The shallow DoF on this lens makes it hard to frame shots. At this time I am not sure if I have received a soft lens.

South Stack, Holyhead, Angelsey

Stacks of Duncansby, Just east of John O'Groats. I was there on holiday, and decided to make the short trip along the cliffs to see the stacks, and the bowfiddle rock formation. The light was fading, which is why it was so noisy, and blowing a gale, but worth it in the end.
