The Princess spent time with Design Director Tandine Rawkins, and observed how she free-hand sketches all the artwork for every design. Her Royal Highness then moved to the printing room and had the opportunity to take part in screen-printing a design on fabric by pushing coloured dyes through an engraved silk-screen using a squeegee. The Princess also observed the last step in the production process where the printed fabric is fed through a conveyor oven, which heat-fixes the print to the basecloth. The quietest of my cats, Barrymore rarely makes a peep. I feel honored whenever he DOES "talk" to me! he says a lot with those baby blues of his, though, and despite his 20 lb. girth, is the only one of my cats who really loves being on my lap, being held!

More-More is also my bully boy. When I first brought him home as a tiny kitten, the first thing he did when he saw Squeegee, who was full grown, was to jump on his back and attack him! Nothing's changed. He still beats him up, and I have to defend Squeeks since he has health problems. He growls constantly at Tigger whenever he gets close, and refuses to forgive him for the spat they had when Tig deposited a claw in Barrymore's nose, which I found still attached! Barrymore is declawed, as is Squeeks, so Tig is the only one who can really use those lethal claws, lucky for them all. Barrymore would make mincemeat of the two of them if he had his!

Somewhere along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. We were having "bug issues," about which the less said the better.

Took a fair bit of effort to correct the verticals. Used Channel Mixer for the mono and then played with a hue/saturation layer underneath to get a tonal range I liked. If I could have got a silhouette of a smoker on a balcony it would have been perfect!

Squeegee kid season comes early this year

And our clean screen lives again to create future dreams and useless artifacts.

Monterey Bay Aquarium, More details on Wcities.com. This is one of the best designed aquariums going. A unique feature is the two-story tank, home to a kelp forest in which swim sunfish, sharks, and the occasional diver tasked with squeegeeing the algae off the tank walls. Sand dabs are displayed in shelf-like tanks ideally suited to the flat fish, and a school of sardines swim in an endless circle in their cylindrical tank home. If you want to interact with some aquatic dwellers, you're invited to pet the bat rays (oddly velvet-like). The jellyfish display shows that they are like something from another planet.

More than $400,000 worth of jewels were stolen from the museum in 1964.

After darkness fell on October 29, 1964, a 27-year-old surfer dude from Miami named Jack Murphy, a.k.a. “Murf the Surf,” broke into the museum’s Morgan Memorial Hall (then called the J. P. Morgan Hall of Gems and Minerals) with two accomplices. They climbed a fence, then a fire escape, and attached a rope to a pillar above an open window leading to the hall of jewels. After swinging their way inside, they used a glass cutter and a squeegee to break into cases and grabbed the world’s biggest sapphire, a 100-carat ruby, and other precious jewels. Murf had been inspired to commit the crime after seeing the movie Topkapi, which featured the robbery of Istanbul's Topkapi Palace Museum.

The men were later caught and imprisoned, but some of the stones were never recovered, including the 14-carat Eagle Diamond, which was the largest one ever found in the U.S. at that time.

This is the squeegee and the ink.

Don't be confused about the colour of the ink, it doesn't always have to be red.

I had lunch with my best friend from college (the first time) a few

weeks ago. As I picked up the camera to take the picture in the

Panera parking lot, he said, "Don't do that." I can

still hear him saying it. I can hear him sending me an e-mail

about it, too.

Good thing he doesn't look at Flickr.

Coughton Court stately home - lovely sunny afternoon to be out with my late father's 6x9 bellows camera. (normalised to current temps with the Massive dev-chart app on the iPhone). These rolls were the first to be developed using guidance from www.rogerandfrances.com with their excellent advice on reduing fixing time with the spot-test (now down to 2-min fix) and using COLD water for washing to prevent emulsion scratching on final squeegee.

Squeeks taken with my new kodak V1253, 12 mpx camera! Shutter speed on this one is better, and the cats don't seem as afraid of it. Detail seems really good. Now, i just have to get used to it!

Squeeks is back to normal! A week of shots (ouch! Poor kitty!) and $250 later, he's feeling good again, although not too trusting of his traitor mommy who brought him to the bringer of pain every day, LOL!

Right. That's the mortgage sorted, now to give the windows a quick clean.. Where's me squeegee!

This is one of six paintings named after the American experimental composer John Cage.

Richter frequently made abstract works by applying layers of paint, and then wiping a squeegee across the surface. As the upper layers of paint are dragged across the canvas, earlier moments from the painting's creation are allowed to resurface.

www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-modern

Basing my work on Gerhard Richter for a fine art project I played around with colour and abstract art. I used PVA glue and ink to create prints and also focused on the way Richter works straight onto canvases with a squeegee, I did the same with household items. I then used Photoshop to turn my samples into prints for sofas.

From the museum label:

"Later, one discovers that reality cannot be captured, that the things we make always represent just themselves." -Gerhard Richter

Most of Richter's works have been abstractions, but during his remarkably varied career, he has moved freely between abstraction and realistic landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. He has used a wide variety of styles and subjects to suggest the infinitely varied ways we perceive the world and to underscore reality's elusiveness and resistance to representation. To create brilliant colors and sweeping strokes in Abstract Painting (594-1), Richter used large squeegees as well as brushes.

Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord Printing

If you’re looking for lanyards for your business, event or as promotional goods we have a number of types of Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to choose from. Each is made from polyester, but the way the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is made differs, depending on the final finish you are looking for.

Flat polyester lanyards are some of the most popular in our range. The polyester is woven into a long length, which is then cut using a hot knife that seals the cut ends to prevent fraying. You can personalize the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord by choosing the color of the material. Your own logo and artwork can be printed onto the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to customize it using the advance printing technique. The benefit of the flat polyester Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is that you can choose a width of up to 25mm, giving you a broad canvas on which to promote your company / Organization.

Flat weave lanyards are manufactured from high quality polyester and customized using your artwork and text, which is woven into the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord rather than printed. This makes it perfect for harsh environments, where the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is likely to be subject to heavy wear and tear.

If you’re looking for a more economical choice, choose our tubular polyester lanyard. They are made from the same high quality polyester as our standard lanyards but the material is tube stitched. These lanyards can also be advance printed techniques with your own logo.

For a more luxurious finish, the satin woven lanyards are made using a finer weave, which gives a smooth, shiny finish. Once again, your logo and choice of text can be printed onto the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to personalize it to your business or event.

Advance printing is a technique used on the majority of our custom lanyards. This is an age-old technique that uses ink and a stencil, supported by a woven mesh. Ink is moved across the advance using a squeegee-type blade, forcing the ink through the open mesh and onto the material beneath. To create images with multiple colors, it’s necessary to create layers as only one color can be printed at a time. Many items of clothing are printed using our advance print technique.

If you have multi-colored logos and/or want to include vibrant images with a photo-quality resolution, a dye sublimation Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord would be the perfect choice. Dye sublimation is a method of computerized printing that uses a combination of heat and pressure to permanently transfer dyes into the fabric as a gas, which then solidifies and becomes part of the fiber of the lanyard.
