Test run of a macro subject taken indoors with two desk lamps - exposed from 1s-9s @ f8-32(normalised to current temps with the Massive dev-chart app on the iPhone). These rolls were the first to be developed using guidance from www.rogerandfrances.com with their excellent advice on reduing fixing time with the spot-test (now down to 2-min fix) and using COLD water for washing to prevent emulsion scratching on final squeegee.

30s presoak in COLD tap-water, NO distilled water as Stourport tapwater is just fine (although remembering Roger & Francis advice to use filtered water for final wash when I move to hard-water Malvern). No stop-bath, just swill out twice with cold tap-water.

My cat, Squeegee

Got the wee lad (Charlie) involved in some creative photography after seeing this at DPS.

Had a bit of fun and though I couldn't get 'em pin sharp we got some nice images.

Didn't half show up how filthy my lens and sensor are when doing these. Time to get the squeegee out!

Before and after. Rigged a squeegee to a long handle, stood on my fire escape and carefully cleaned the exterior glass.

These little guys were hanging out in my evap pond...and not to interested in leaving when i wander by to squeegee it.

Red Cross volunteers load clean-up supplies and drinking water on trucks at a warehouse in Nashville in preparation for mass distribution to people affected by the recent flooding. They take the supplies to affected neighborhoods and distribution points and give them out to anyone who needs them. An American Red Cross Clean-up Kit contains brooms, a mop, chlorine bleach, cleaning fluids, rubber gloves, scrub brush, rubber squeegee and trash bags, everything needed to disinfect and clean a small home. Here, a Red Cross volunteer takes an inventory of the supplies in the warehouse prior to deployment to the neighborhoods.

Created - March 2014

These pieces, experimenting with the use of colour with various materials and techniques.

Top - acrylic + decorating filler on cardboard

( 29.7 x 42.0cm)

Applying the acrylic heavily onto corrugated cardboard over a layer of decorating filler to add depth and texture. Mixing the colours on the cardboard created a nice effect. This experimental piece was to be used for a larger piece, although I developed my ideas further and did not follow through with this particular experiment.

Bottom - Heat-press + transfer dye

(29.7 x 42.0cm)

Using a painterly approach, as well as a squeegee technique inspired by Gerhard Richter, onto brown paper before being put into the heat press. What was different to the final out come to the initial painting was that the colours came out different after they have been in the press. So there is always an element of surprise of what colours will turn out and how each colour mixes with another.

The Great Characters Edition Andy Warhol is paying tribute to one of the major proponents of the Pop Art Movement. With his striking works, Andy Warhol broke down the barriers between ‘high art’ and ‘commercial art’ and made a sensation turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. The complementary contrast between the cobalt blue precious resin of the barrel and the narrow orange rings on the cone and forepart reflect the colour variations in Warhol’s Colored Campbell’s Soup can series from 1965, which are also carefully worked into the stainless steel cap. A dollar sign is finely engraved on the handcrafted, rhodium-coated gold nib of the fountain pen, while the squeegee he used in silkscreen printing is captured in the design of the clip. The cap ring of the edition is adorned with an engraving of Warhol’s signature.

Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord Printing

If you’re looking for lanyards for your business, event or as promotional goods we have a number of types of Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to choose from. Each is made from polyester, but the way the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is made differs, depending on the final finish you are looking for.

Flat polyester lanyards are some of the most popular in our range. The polyester is woven into a long length, which is then cut using a hot knife that seals the cut ends to prevent fraying. You can personalize the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord by choosing the color of the material. Your own logo and artwork can be printed onto the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to customize it using the advance printing technique. The benefit of the flat polyester Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is that you can choose a width of up to 25mm, giving you a broad canvas on which to promote your company / Organization.

Flat weave lanyards are manufactured from high quality polyester and customized using your artwork and text, which is woven into the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord rather than printed. This makes it perfect for harsh environments, where the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord is likely to be subject to heavy wear and tear.

If you’re looking for a more economical choice, choose our tubular polyester lanyard. They are made from the same high quality polyester as our standard lanyards but the material is tube stitched. These lanyards can also be advance printed techniques with your own logo.

For a more luxurious finish, the satin woven lanyards are made using a finer weave, which gives a smooth, shiny finish. Once again, your logo and choice of text can be printed onto the Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord to personalize it to your business or event.

Advance printing is a technique used on the majority of our custom lanyards. This is an age-old technique that uses ink and a stencil, supported by a woven mesh. Ink is moved across the advance using a squeegee-type blade, forcing the ink through the open mesh and onto the material beneath. To create images with multiple colors, it’s necessary to create layers as only one color can be printed at a time. Many items of clothing are printed using our advance print technique.

If you have multi-colored logos and/or want to include vibrant images with a photo-quality resolution, a dye sublimation Lanyard / Ribbon / Strip / Rope / Cord would be the perfect choice. Dye sublimation is a method of computerized printing that uses a combination of heat and pressure to permanently transfer dyes into the fabric as a gas, which then solidifies and becomes part of the fiber of the lanyard.

Back in January their was a meetup to check out the photography processes exhibit at National Gallery of Art. Most of that exhibit was ironically no photo's allowed, but I snapped this one of a statue/icon in one of the open areas.... I didn't think it at the time but I think I must have been channeling Marcellina in this one (which is a good thing!)

An alley way beside one the well known Toronto Squeegee Kid hang-out spot. The Squeegee Kids are a squad of homeless young people who wash car windows at major intersections for money rather than begging. In 1999 the Ontario governement passed the Safe Streets act, outlawing squeegee kids and their way of begging, making squeegee kids a less prominent group in Toronto. However there are still quite a few left in the city.

My sister, Kira, has returned to Hogwarts. You would think this would be a good thing wouldn't you?

while waiting for the library to open.

They don't like it up em!!! Once he alerted his mates to my presence, he was over in a flash, waving and gesturing with his squeegee. I stood me ground and asked him what he did? Anyways his mates came over and we chatted for 5 mins. They were from Milan apparently tho they did say Eastern Europe. They wouldn't pose for a photo and if they were to, it was going to cost me a tenner (no mission!). They thought that i was a press photographer and were very concerned about that. I told them that its a free country and that i was recording the present for the future.

"Why you do that?" was the quizical response. "So people will know" says I which they seemed to accept.

They were very interested to hear what i earn't, they told me that most days they make around £15 a day.
