Notes: Karl Wenzel Klietsch (born May 31, 1841 in Arnau / Bohemia - died on November 16, 1926 in Vienna) was a painter, photographer and graphic artist. At the age of fourteen he began studying painting at the Academy in Prague. However, he had to leave after a short time because he caricatured Austrian ministers. After a long break, he was only able to complete school in 1862. Shortly thereafter he founded the photo studio "Rafael" in Brno. He worked as a draftsman, illustrator and caricaturist in Budapest and Vienna, but during this time he devoted himself more and more to questions of reproduction technology. In 1879 he invented heliogravure and around 1890 squeegee gravure printing with a cross screen, as well as inlaid linoleum and clicotype. art and art history.

In episode 4, Taza enjoys the napkin game, plays with dice, chases the squeegee in the shower, beeps at Binx (the black German Shepherd puppy), bings a wine glass, and chases a red laser dot.
This is my beloved Squeegee. Squeeks has been "displaced" since Tigger has come into my home and taken over my bedroom. The look you see in his eyes is one of longing, because every single time I walk in that room and he can't follow, it hurts him.
To date, my two cats, Squeeks and Barrymore, have not quite accepted Tigger. Tigger is ready to take them on, too, and since he has claws and they don't, it's a slow go, and they might always have to be separated to prevent trouble. Squeeks has medical problems, and can't go through the stress of fighting with Tig. I am hoping to switch Tigger to another room very soon, when my brother's family can help me move some furniture around, and bring Squeeks back in with me most of the time. It appears I might have to play room nomad, and spend alternating nights with all my kitties to keep the jealousy down! They really are like furry children.

This is an awesome Beach Ball Photo Prop that Lyndzay Meili of [Lyndz-Matic] made for Operation Squeegee. The wearable Beach Ball includes 7 custom poses that can be changed by a menu. It's only 100 L and all of the proceeds go to the National Wildlife Federation to help recovery efforts from the ongoing oil-spill in the gulf coast ecosystem.

11/09/2025. Cuxton, UK. The Princess of Wales during a visit to the Marina Mill in Cuxton, Kent, a family business that specialises in hand designing and screen- printing furnishing fabrics. The Princess spent time with Design Director Tandine Rawkins, and observed how she free-hand sketches all the artwork for every design. Her Royal Highness then moved to the printing room and had the opportunity to take part in screen-printing a design on fabric by pushing coloured dyes through an engraved silk-screen using a squeegee. The Princess also observed the last step in the production process where the printed fabric is fed through a conveyor oven, which heat-fixes the print to the basecloth. Ryerson University in the heart of downtown Toronto is a spot where something is always happening and I enjoy walking along Gould St. which has been closed to traffic and is now a pedestrian mall. On weekdays it is usually filled with a bustling multicultural mix of students and makes for interesting Stranger encounters.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that a large portion of the street had been closed off to pedestrians by a high chain-link fence to allow a work crew to paint a pavement mural on the asphalt. I stood and watched as the men spread brightly coloured paint from a large drum with a wide, long-handled squeegee, following a design which must have originally been marked on the pavement. I tried to get a photo of the process which required me to take the “Hail Mary” approach of holding my camera over the fence and hoping for the best. After several poorly-aimed photos, I finally got one which showed the process adequately. The fellow doing the application of paint didn’t seem that informed about the project but a few minutes later I saw a man with a shaved head and wearing street clothes who seemed to be overseeing things. I approached him. Meet Kevin.
Kevin turned out to be the Project Manager of this street art and he explained that the design had been created by someone at the University. “How did your company get involved?” I asked. He said Upper Canada Asphalt Inc. specializes in all things asphalt-related and was a logical choice for this unique job. (www.uppercanadaasphalt.com) He has been with the company for 10 years. He went on to explain that the thick paint (it had the consistency of applesauce but was perfectly smooth) is a special non-slip compound. I learned that the job would probably be completed sometime next week.
When I invited Kevin to join my 100 Strangers project he was quite willing and said he could take a few minutes from overseeing things to accommodate my project. I suggested we use the painted street as a background and Kevin kindly opened the fencing so that we could stand over a portion of the project which had already dried. When I saw that the busy background with fencing, students, and buildings would be a major distraction, I asked him to crouch which he did although I could see it was hard on his knees. Kevin asked suggested photographing two of his co-workers who were with us but they both declined. They then said they would pose for a group photo but not individual ones and I’ve included the group shot as a comment photo.
Thank you Kevin for taking a few minutes to field my questions and for participating in 100 Strangers. You are now Stranger #237 in Round 3 of my project.

Additional note: I stopped by the project on my way to another part of town this morning and paused to watch the crew painting labels onto the pavement directing people to the different university departments and heard a voice behind me saying "Hello stranger." I turned around and it was Kevin, with a smile on his face. We shook hands and I asked if he'd received the photos I had sent him and he said he had and that he really liked them. The project is clearly nearing completion and really makes an ordinary street much more eye-catching.

My family has recently been sharing old family photos on Facebook. My older brother was always the one interested in photography from an early age. He snapped this photo of me when I was about 16 years old. It was taken in front of our house along the Québec side of the Ottawa river.
He found this photo, among others yesterday stored away somewhere. He used a big old Polaroid camera that my Dad had won in a contest. Cool technology. You would take the photo, pull the film out, strip a layer off of it and swipe it with a little squeegee that was dipped in some kind of solvent. Cool process but boy oh boy have things changed !!!
I remember the camera but I don't remember posing for this photo. Brings back a lot of memories of much simpler times of living along the river.

He starts with a photograph, which he has found or taken himself, and projects it onto his canvas, where he traces it for exact form. Taking his color palette from the photograph, he paints to replicate the look of the original picture. The Hardcast squeegee has a twin rib design for easy handling and pressure control for the application of Hardcast pressure sensitive rolled mastic sealants. Use the Hardcast squeegee for smoothing out wrinkle and bubbles that might form in the application of the rolled mastic sealant. Use positive pressure to insure a flat surface and maximum adhesion to eliminate air leakage coming in or out of the transverse joints and longitudinal seams. The flexibility of the squeegee will allow the rolled mastic sealant to conform to angle changes and penetrations into joints and seams.

In the morning a car can covered in dew. This must be removed from all the windows to ensure good vision. You could try the wind down each front window technique, but this generally doesn't give satisfactory results.
A removed rear wiper makes an excellent squeegee. Unclip, wipe all the glass and replace.
This not only removes all the water but takes the dirt with it.

A very simple and easy set up. The nova tank is a heat tank to keep chemicals at constant 38 degrees but not essential as this can be achieved easily in the sink. I use Tetnal C41 rapid developing kit for my chemicals it is a very good and easy kit and also easy to make up the solutions. The kit only gives instructions for rotary development so here is how I do it manually. Heat Chemicals to 38 deg C (100 Deg F) Heat tank with film in it for 5 mins in the same water as chemicals. Pour in developer for 3 mins 15 Secs, and agitate for the first 30 seconds and then every 30 secs there after agitate for 15 seconds. Pour out and then add Bleach (Blix) for 4.00 mins agitate same as developer. After time is up pour out bleach then rinse under a flowing tap for 3 mins I empty tank every 30 secs during this and I have used cold water without any problems tepid warm water would be good but as I say cold water has been fine for me. after time is up pour out water and then add the stabilizer for 1 Min agitating as developer and bleach. once time is up pour out. The stabilizer can be quite frothy I rinse out again under running cool water for a couple of mins. This is not a hard process I think the most critical thing is temperature, inversion times I have some times been erratic with and always got good results as long as you are doing them regularly . Remember you don't have to have a dark room or dark bag to load your film on to a spiral, I have put all items I need in a bin bag and put them under the quilt on the bed and tucked my hands under and loaded the film onto the spiral and in to processing tank without a problem. Once Film is developed I gently take it out the spiral then run 2 closed fingers down the film to get excess water off (you can also get a special squeegee for this) I then hang the negative strip up in the bathroom as this tends to be a less dusty environment. I put a peg on the bottom of the strip to keep it straight so it doesn't curl up you can peg the top to something in the bathroom but you get the idea. Once they are dry you are ready to scan them or enlarge them. ****Just a note on water, where I am the water is very soft but in hard water areas I have heard you are better using distilled water so it is not hard on the negatives, hard water is a high amount of minerals in your water, you will be able to find out easily on the net if you are in a hard or soft water area.****** You could even shoot a test roll and test how your water is. The instructions say you can develop 8 - 12 rolls with the 1 littre solution but I have heard some say they have stretched this out into the 20s. Best of luck if you decide to try developing your own film. It is a very rewarding and satisfying hobby. Any questions just ask I am no expert but can answer best I can from my own experience.

I had dinner at Mountain Mike's Pizza during SOL and Captain Squeegee. I tried to skank at full speed and had muscle cramps after I got home. Being old is only better than the alternative.

The 4th Floor of the Chattanooga Public Library presents Zines & Screens, monthly back-to-back workshops on the last Saturday of the month to keep your creative juices flowing.

SCREEN PRINTING
This laid back screen printing workshop is for adults who would like to come play with squeegees, silk screens, ink and brushes. Bring in something to screen (a shirt, table cloth, pillow case, scarf, party invitations, whatever!) and create a stencil, screen and some sweet new artwork on the 4th Floor.

We'll work with members of the Society of Ink and Paper to learn about indy publishing and zines, while creating some simple zines using available materials in the library's zine making lab
